Ok well my friend has just purchased a real nice 87 Z28. It has the auto LG4 drivetrain, but in the RPO codes GU5 is the axle code and it comes up as 3.23, but i didnt think it was an option fo this car.

Yeah, according to the Camaro technical Database it should be a 2.73 with automatic, 3.23 with 5 speed.

Canada right? It's a Z49 Canadian "export" car. I bet the gear ratios are different for these cars. I know for a fact that on the '92 RS Camaros with the RPO code MAJ which is "Marketing Area Japan" the 305 TBI cars got the 3.08 rear gear instead of the 2.73 gear.

Really...hmm that could be it, I've never come across it before but maybe the 3.23 gear was available with the LG4 auto.
