great source for RPO codes and OEM info!!!
great source for RPO codes and OEM info!!!
Since there are many requests for help in decoding RPOs I thot I would pass this along this advice...
Make friends with the parts guys at your local GM dealership. I've been amazed at the stuff they can pull off the computer when they enter my VIN. Drew refers to this in his "Read this First" thread. I would just like to amend his comment, "If you have an 84-89 fbody, you're probably SOL if the codes have been removed. 90-92 Fbody owners may be able to get a list of the RPO's printed out at the parts counter of the closest GM dealership." Actually, with my 84 Recaro they can access all this info and more. I'm fortunate to have both my RPO code sticker and build sheet so I've compared it with what they have on their database and it all matches. The screen comes up with something that looks like the RPO sticker. When they click on each code an explanatory note describing it comes up (at least for most of them.)
Along the same lines, I've found the guys (and gals) at my dealership accomodating in letting me look at old parts books, manuals, and other documents that we usually don't have access to, as well as giving me phone numbers and websites of suppliers.
So, if only for selfish reasons, treat your local GM parts and service people well. (No, I do NOT work for GM!!!!)
Hope this helps.
