HP ratings for 305TPI

My friend might be looking at a 91 Z28, 305 TPI automatic- I told him 205hp. To learn a little more I browsed the the tech section.

Why are the 91-92s 305 TPI hp peak is at 4200RPM?
Shouldn't it be 4400RPM?

How did a 205hp rating come about for a 305 TPI Auto??

All other years were 190 hp (except 85)

Did they give it the same cam as the 5spd?

What's the redline on a single cat 5spd 305 TPI-
91-92?

What's the redline on a auto 305 TPI 91-92??

If a single cat 5spd 305 TPI was rated at 205 hp
in 91-92....why is an 87 rated at 215?

Thanks for any help

The 205hp engine is exactly the same as the 230hp 5-speed. Only difference is the sinle cat(205hp) vs dual cat 230hp.
My car redlines @5000rpm.
I believe that the 91-92 lb9 was the strongest and best 305 GM has ever produced.
I am very impressed at the power of my engine but I wished all 91-92 would have had the dual cats since it was worth 25hp and 15tq.

Um...why does your car redline@5000rpm then?
How can dual cats up the redline to 5500?

And why did my old single cat 87 305 5spd TPI have 215hp VS 205 for 91-92?

This whole thing seems weird.....

The whole exhaust system was bigger on the old single cat setups. Manifolds and Y-pipe too.

All 91-92 SD 305 TPI's are the same engine, different components attatched to it.

ah...I see. Still, the redlines should all be the same- if it was logical- which it isn't

Still the tech section must be wrong quoting a 4200rpm hp peak- should be 4400 then.
