B2L and L98 RPO codes

Alright here's my question. The RPO code B2L is for a High Performance TPI 5.7 (350), and the L98 was a TPI 5.7 (350), so is it possible to have an L98 without a B2L option. Because all I have ever seen have been both together. And why have 2 codes for the same engine????
Thanks, Garrett

I'm pretty sure you have to have both RPO's together. The B2L is a "performance package", which consisted of an oil cooler, BW rear end and L98. Some guys will swear that B2L is the aluminum head delete RPO code.

I agree with iroc22. Chevrolet denotes its motors with an L** rpo designation. The B2L was a package that included the 350 motor. All cars with the L98 came with the B2L package
