Who was the original supplier of tires for third gens? I am looking to get an original set of tires for my 83 Camaro. Problem is, there is no indication of what company made the original ones. They are the optional P205/70/R14 white letter tires. Coker tire did not stock anything

in the early third gen on Trans Am's and Z28's it was GoodYear Eagle GT's. Not GT-II or GT+4 or GTS (?) or any of that later stuff but just the good ol' original Eagle GT's. They came in either blackwall or whitewall. Whitewall was optional, I believe. The size was P215/65R15.
If you find a set, let me know!! I'm interested in getting some no-milers if I can.

The above sizes I mentioned are with WS6 and WS7 only. Tires installed at the factory should have a code "TPC 1042" on them, while tires added later will look identical but won't have the code, as far as I know.
T/A's and Z28's without WS6 or WS7 still had 14" inch tires.

In 1983, in a P205/70R14 they used BF Goodrich Lifesaver's amd General Dual Steel for Blackwalls, and I think it was a Firestone or Uniroyal 721 for white Letter in that size, hope that helps.
Good luck finding a set of any of 'em.

Those Performance Radial GT's weren't O.E.
They are just an off-brand white letter tire, possibly made by Cooper, but those have probably been replaced too by whoever made them.
Most tire companies have a life cycle for tire lines of 4-10 years. Depending on how succesful they are in the marketplace, and how Tire Technology progresses.

Well I got down and read the fine print on the tire. I actually found a name -- Sentry. Sears is the supplier of Sentry tires so they are not original. The Chevrolet cross is actually a "+" so I had a set of Sentry Performance radial GT+'s on my ride. Off to Sears to see if these are still available (I still like the look)
