Trans Am Barn find,**UPDATE**
I apologize for starting a new subject but the other one was getting too long.Anway,i guess *** must be smiling upon me because i just sold the miata and will be picking up the trans am this afternoon!I went back by there an hour ago to show my girlfriend because in the pics she hates it!Anyway,i told her its between that and a 5.0,i knew thats all it would take(she hates them). So i will have it in about 3-4 hours and will start cleaning it up and taking more pics.I have a few more questions about it though.I noticed in one of the pics that didnt get posted on here that it has the 5500 RPM redline and a 140 or 145 mph(couldnt tell) speedo. My friend had an 86 IROC and it had the 5000 rpm redline and i thought all 86s did since they all got the sucky P-nut cam that year.Is the engine still rated at 185 horsepower? Also KIZZ when i went back i decided to check the seat and guess what? The seat was set in its highest position which is why it looked so much higher than the other one.I lowered it and it now is even with the other one.So whats you theory on this now?Still no chance of being factory?Anyway i will take pics this afternoon before and after cleanup and i plan on taking the seat out and taking pics so we can clear this up.Sorry this is so long.Talk to yall later.

Well congratulations, it is a heck of a find, I wish you the best with it, it certainly is an odd ball of a car.
You may want to try PHS to document the car further and see what they say about it.

hi 350 TPI
to answer your question, I really don't have a theory, except that every single indication I have ever seen, read, heard, seen myself, is that NO thirdgen came with power recaro seats. Even Mr.TurboTA, who has a gigantic endless archive of documentation, books, articles, literature, has owned pretty much one of everything (figure of speech) and who most people consider to be THE source for accurate historical and restoration info.. even he agreed that no power recaro ever rolled out of a GM f-body plant. So that leads me to the next logical conclusion: if yours turns out to be legitimate as it claims, it will be the FIRST of its kind, as far as we know, a ONE-of-ONE and will be basically a whole new can of worms. If that turns out to be true, then you're even luckier than you can imagine and that car is probably worth a truckload of $$$ to a handful of people in the country.. if you ever decide to sell it, better track one of 'em down. or just give it to me

I dont mean to sound like one either. U got a super duper rare car, that's a fact. I hope you protect it and upkeep it factory specs, etc. if you ever replace any parts, save the old ones. all the little vacuum hoses and stuff have part numbers all over 'em, etc. if you find a build sheet that will be the ultimate way to confirm or dispel what options u got.. I haven't slept in like over 24 hrs so ifi I don't make any sense just ignore me.. back later GT

Glad you got the car, do us all a favor and keep it safe, it may be irreplaceable.
Even if it's not, it's a fine car and looks like it needs saving.

The hood bird also looks incorrect. It appears to be solid and the 85/86 birds were hollow.

Well i put a new muffler on it (flowmaster)but left the factory tips.I am going to leave it stock looking as possible.I put some 255-50 on the back and the stock sized 245-50 on the front. It drives much better. It still idles at about 1500 rpm and has a strong fuel odor (needs a tuneup).DOes anyone know where i can find the original type foglights? They dont work and the lenses are broke.Well i am going back outside to degrease the engine (its filthy) and wash and wax it.

350 TPI, I think Gold GTA wheels would look great on your car, also you would get to keep the originals from getting exposed to the elements, thats just an added bonus. But yeah the GTA wheels would look very sharp.

If you ever plan to take it to a car show, definitely use the original wheels. it's kinda pointless to find a super rare & original car, lust after it, do everything in the world to secure & buy it, and then go swapping the wheels to a more common type just because they appeal to more people. If you do take off the originals maybe it will be a good opportunity to clean 'em up and polish them, etc. I'm all about 100% originality, so that's just my opinion

Kizz i plan on keeping the original wheels for as long as i own the car and as of right now i have given up on even purchasing GTA wheels.THe money i was going to use on the paint will now have to be used toward a new motor and tranny since they are both acting funny.nikh23,i honestly havent posted anymore pics because since i bought the car there has been little to no interest in this post so i assume that no one really want to see any pics.
