z28 question
z28 question
I just looked at a black with gold stripes(not that the color matters) 3rd gen z28. I have a 89 firebird formula 305at right now but i was thinking about selling it for this car. One thing that threw me off though was the 215's on the back. My bird has 245's stock. and it didnt look like a small tire for the rim. I was thinking v6 at first...but i do not beleve there is a v6 z28??? whats the deal with the tires..and is this car worth aboout $2500?? it is a auto and has 160,000miles..but in good condition.

Hes right Its not worth it because if it does have a V6 in it someone pulled out the V8 the only car that came with the V6 was the rs which became the base model for the camaros.

He didn't say the car had a 6...
All the Z28s up to 84 came with 15' wheels; the 16s weren't introduced until 85, and then they were an option that mostly came on IROCs (the IROC being an option package on top of the Z28 pkg). My 83 HO Z28 for insatnce came with 15" wheels and 215/65-15 tires, and it was the maximum possible Z28 in 83.
Hard to say what the car is worth, beyond the truism about what someone is willing to pay....
If it's in really good condition, not hacked up or rawhided to death or any of that, maybe it's worth that on the open market, probably not. But, if you like it, and it's worth it to you, then buy it. I think you can get one for less though, unless it's a really cherry specimen.

hmm... pop the hood, count the plugs?
Seriously, tho... if you really dig the car, I'm sure you can talk the guy down on his price. After all, the 305/AT doesn't draw as much $$ as the 350 does. Personally, I'd stick with the Formy.. but as you can see, I'm particular to 'birds.....

all Z28 82-90 that did not have the Iroc Package(85-90) Came with 15inch wheells that had 215 on them. Thats the Stock Tire for the 15inch wheels was 215 But you could Order wider 235s for a Add on to the Sticker Price.
as far as the car you looked at, Look under the hood.. (I hope you can tell what a V8 looks like lol. Jk im shure you do)

You should be able to look at the driver door tag to see what size tires originally came with the car.
Hard to say what the value is because you didn't say what year the car was. 160,000 on an '82 Z vs. 160,000 on '92 Z are two different things.
