red book

Hi

I asked on a separate thread, and heard there were only a few errors... if they are known, why not mention them here and I can write them down in the book!

hehe

Because there is far too many. I've heard that some people are writing letters to the publisher so that the next edition will be more accurate.....

I'll have to let you know when I get home tonight, I bought it a couple of years ago...

Off the top of my head I can tell you that some of the produciton numbers are wrong, some hp ratings are wrong, some rpo code definitions are wrong, and some colors are wrong.

damm!

I have mine right by my PC, and it's no coincidence hehehe

Anyway, 2nd edition (Motorbooks International) and prolly bought about the time I got my car. I've owned only GM cars... two 1982 Cutlass V6 Broughams and 1 black/red/chrome Eldorado Bairritz with stainless steel roof cap...very sweet ride, and almost got an Eldo Touring Coupe at one point. They aren't that fast of course, and handle like a sofa...but great for long trips and I love the classy look. I got mine going over 100MPH (on their digital dash)!

Which Edition? If you are talking about '91 model year production numbers, that first edition came out before the final production run was complete, so those numbers are not correct. The 2nd edition has updated production numbers for '91.

Re: firebird white book???

I have been looking for a good book about our cars. I was looking at the "Original Pontiac Firebird Trans am 1967 - 2002" book but I can't seem to find one that costs less than $450. Which edition of The "Firebird Red book" is worth buying? Or is there a better book out there?

Edit* didn't even notice it was 12 Years old. Thanks Scott.

Re: firebird white book???

I have the Firebird Red Book, but it never comes out...lol. Any book by John Gunnell is pretty good; you'll find less errors there than in most. But I don't really think us Firebird guys have really had the "definitive" book yet...

Cars and Parts Firebird ID Numbers is the best decoding book I've found to date. Even better than most GM books; sometimes you have to search back and forth thru the various years to match up your codes, but it's a good book. Plus it has interior and exterior colors as well.
