1987 (only) Camaro SPID Sticker Placement
I've been wondering about this for a long time now. Over the years, I've owned five 1987 Z28 coupes and three 1987 Z28 convertibles. All five coupes have the sticker pasted on the underside of the center console lid, whereas all three convertibles have it pasted on the inside wall of the console box on the passenger side. The other note is that all five coupes were produced at Van Nuys and the three convertibles came out of Norwood.
I'm wondering if the placement was a coupe/convertible thing or was it a plant specific deal? So if you own a Norwood built 1987 Camaro coupe (SC or Z28), please tell me where your SPID sticker is located.
Also, I believe all 1987 Camaro convertibles were built in Norwood. Am I correct? Thanks!

I too, am not sure about Pontiacs. That's why I did not include them in my "survey".
I need to make one point emphatically clear, so there is no misunderstanding. The two locations are:
1) On the underside of the console lid, and
2) In the console glove box, on the inside of the passenger side.

Willie,
My 87 Iroc coupe is a Van Nuys car and the sticker is on the side wall of the console. My 85 Z28, also Van Nuys car, had the sticker on the lid.

Hmmm, I don't see why the Ponchos would be different, they were in the same plant, going down the same line. The only difference is what stickers the car got...
As far as the locations, I guess I was confused by the original description. I thought you meant the rear compartment on the drivers side. None of mine were on the lid, but on the inside on the passenger side wall.

Did I screw up. I had the locations backwards. I just took a couple of pics. Here's the Van Nuys coupe:

And here's the Norwood convertible. I need to know where the sticker is on a Norwood coupe (1987 only).
Also I would speculate that since firebirds don't have enough room on the bottom of the console lid (85-92) that all 85-92 Firebirds have the spid on the side of the console tray.

I have a Van Nuys built 87 IROC that I ordered back in 87. The sticker is on the right wall of the console.

My buddy's 87 Iroc, built at Norwood, has the sticker on the console lid. It's a coupe with a 350, option level #3, no T-tops.
So Norwood are on the console lid in 87, Van Nuys changed to the side wall, in either 86 or 87.

Great... as soon as I make a conclusion, I'm shot down!! It's possible Norwood did it both ways? I guess it depended on who actually glued it on??? Maybe Joe Blow liked it on the lid and John Doe liked it on the side? Just depended on who task it was on any given day I guess.

FWIW, the spid sticker in my 84 camaro (norwood built) is located on the underside of the console lid.
