I'm having the nose cap on my 92 GTA repainted at the end of this month and I need to know something.
Exactly what shade of black is the paint directly in front of the fog/parking lights on the inside of the nose cap?? Is it a flat black, semi-gloss, or gloss?
I'd look at my Firehawk but it's about 150 miles away from me at the moment and when they repainted my nose before, they didn't even repaint the black portion. I remember seeing a red 92 Trans Am 'vert at a car show recently and it had flat black but it had been repainted too so I don't know if that was even 100% factory correct.
Thanks!
Alex

Before I hit the boulder and had the nose repainted, it was flat black to the little lip/edge. I seriously doubt mine had been repainted but it's a possibility. When mine got repainted they painted the whole thing red

But has your ever been waxed? See I'm beting that from the factory it was flat black but over the years it's been waxed by owners and repainted other colors like semi-gloss or gloss by body shops, etc...

...hmm....when I bought my car in 1992, it was flat black (the "holes")...
....but now (...I had to repaint the nose cap two times
, in 1994 and 2000), it`s still the car`s color...

This is the only picture I can find pre-paint that shows the area in question. It's filthy dirty in this picture but I believe shows definitively flat black. Maybe the difference between 91/92? HTH!

Typically parts like that are "trim black". It's a durable black paint used on bumpers, mirrors, window trim, etc. It's not your run of the mill paint.
So it is not flat, semi, or gloss, but it does have the appearence of semi-gloss.

Umm I think that just might be GM Trim paint. When I did my t-tops over the summer on the RS it looked exactly like that.

I bought one of my 91's from the original owner and it has all original paint. It's that GM trim black or something but on both of my cars it has always appeared semi-gloss black.
