Too bad it is not a Belair, but still a great project!

Also as far as powertrain I say a 502 BB and a VERY built 700R4, with 4.11.'s out back

No, it's not a Bel Air. It is a 57 Chevrolet, but not the Bel Air. Here are some things that should NOT be done:

1. Pastel paint
2. Graphics
3. Tweed interior
4. Digital dash
5. Billet anything
6. TPI 350, can you say "me too" ?
7. Huge wheels
8. Chopped or shaved anything
9. Wheel tubs
10. Hoodscoop

Those are ten ways to ruin such a classic. Good luck with your project.

The Bel Air has different side molding. For example the space on the rear fender between where the molding Y's off would be a solid piece of trim.

If it's not a Bel Air it's bascially just called a 57 Chevy plain and simple....

whoa, quite a response.
it's a 210, i'm going silver with maybe a 327 or a 400SBC and a 4 or 5 speed...don't worry, i won't do anything to ruin it. I'm not quite sure as to what rims yet, these are spare wheels we had around so we could wheel it out.... (the stack of wheels in the 4th picture were originally on it.)

A 210 instead of an overpriced Bel Air.

The 327 or 400 would work nicely, and your intentions to use a manual trans are the only way to travel. My 2 cents on wheels is to find a set of vintage mags, but Corvette rally wheels are always an option.

build it old school style with an older 400sbc with the biggest, lumpyest idleing cam u can find. back that up with a munchie 4 speed and a set of 4:56 gears. do the biggie small combo for the tires with the old style mag rims. now that would look bad A$$ then paint it up cherry red with all your origional chrome.

Looks like a very nice project! As for paint, I like the two tone look. Maybe paint the body a darker color, paint the top and in between the rear quarter trim white. That would look sweet! Maybe find an old 283 and put an old 50s and 60s Corvette Fuel injection setup on it.

Good luck!
