Parking lights

After looking at a few ´88 and ´89 IROC convertibles in dark red metallic I was wondering why my parking lights are orange…. All of the ones I saw had clear parking lights. Does anyone have knowledge if orange parking lights came with that color trim from factory or were they replaced at some time ??
Thanks
Alex

I hope I do a sufficient job answer this question because I'm not sure if you're referring to the front parking lamps or the side markers. I'll just explain both.

Front
The RS / Z28 / IROC-Z assemblies are clear and use an orange bulb. In the daytime, they appear clear / white. At night, they glow orange. There are no aftermarket lamp assemblies in other colors that I know of.

Side Front
These are all orange and use a clear bulb. Therefore, they will appear orange, regardless of whether the bulb is burning or not. Procarparts markets clear side assemblies. If these are used, it is mandatory (by federal law) to change the clear bulb to orange.

Based on this, all three cars' lamps shown above appear identical.

Hey Willie
yes I was refering to the front parking lamps, so basicly all front park lamps are clear and only seem to be orange when turned on ? right ?.... I'm still confused why my front park lamps are colored orange though, even when they are off.... they really don't appear to be aftermarket... any ideas if the factory could have still put it in ?

Check this thread out. It appears that Camaros/firebirds exported to Europe had to have orange blinker lenses, instead of clear.

Thanks, that could indeed be possible. The first owner ordered the car in CA and had it shipped to germany... it was not an export model like the Z28 E though. It has all other US specs, including miles instead of KM... so could it still be possible that even though not beeing a true export model the factory put orange ones inside with having the cars final destination in mind ?

Another possibilty...

The base sport coupe from 82-87 had orange lenses. Maybe the previous owner liked the look of them and swapped them out?

except 82-84 and 85-86 coupe lights won't fit the openings in 85-up aero package cars.

I knew they were different for 82-84 vs 85-87. Didn't know dimensions were different for SC vs Z-28/IROC.

the previous owner could have replaced them with Z28E parking lights. or maybe the lenses were painted amber?
