Sun Visor hole?

Driving my '92 RS today and I noticed there is a hole that is cut out in the plastic that is underneith the covering of the driver side visor. You can't see it but you can feel it. Anyone know the history or reason behind this?

The sunvisors are actually fiberboard. The mirrors just plug into the holes. They snap in place. Hence the holes. If you get a mirror from a donor car and cut thru the fabric you could add the mirror(s).
