Ugh.. talk about another K-mart hodge podge car. 83 daytona, K-mart wing, 85-90 ground effects, missing all decals including hood decal, probably a hood swap.. I'm totally amazed that it still has the wheels, 3D fender logos and seats. Like I always say, people with money and no brain (i.e. whoever was lucky enough to have bought that car and then casually molested it) are the most dangerous to collector cars. Someone put that thing iout of its misery :P Either restore it or crush it... for crying out loub. gt

I agree that car has many parts from different models. But the price is fair if the engine is still in fair condition.Body looks nice also. The price is in canadian dollars.

yeah.. body looks "nice" allright, but it looks just like any 85-90 transam with a swap-on Formula hood, and does not look like an 83 daytona which it's supposed to. some people don't want "nice", they want a factory original car. what the heck is the point of having a rare UNIQUE car like a daytona if you're going to water it down and make it conform to what everything else is? totally counterintuitive. I see stuff like this all the time "20,000 original miles! brand new 350, new custom paint job, cragar wheels, flowmaster etc." total LIE.. nothing original about it. total waste of a nice daytona there. And the seller is obviously on crack! calling it a GTA, a firehawk.. I mean what sort of peabrain mediafolk is he, I wonder. What are the chances of someone finding the daytona/84 GFX and front bumper cover & inserts and taking the time to install them, plus getting the decals and getting a valid rear spoiler, and restoring the car to original appearance? Who's gonna sit there and paint it back to white/charcoal? nobody. and the hubcaps? I guarantee they lost one in a ditch so they chucked the rest in the trash,. only about 1600 - 1700 of those sets EVER made; totally irreplaceable. and that's just the exterior! we have no idea what the interior is like. I guarantee nobody will go to any trouble for this car. it's destined to be a daily driver for a few years, then junked or modded even further before the elements catch up with it since it's stored outside and abused, since it looks dime-a-dozen and nobody knows it's special.. or was. all because someone chose to water it down and take away its uniqueness. which can never be restored. you say "nice", I say "tragic" .. R.I.P.

That's just a white Firebird or TA with a newer nose and fugly wing. Probably nothing special about this car at all. Definite mis-representation! Firehawk...rare GTA model! Yeah right....!

This guy is most certainly mentaly ill . Who will pay that kind of money for that.
I posted a similar topic here not so long ago about a Swedish dealer who tried to sell a 1989 Camaro Firehawk ?? and he wanted 26000 dollars for it. Talk about complete insanity!! I might add that he still has that car in his showroom(suprise!!!) i guess he cant sell it for that price.

I agree with most of the things you say but i've seen worse and i guess i got used to it.It's very hard to see a very nice and rare third gen that's in good condition around here.Like i said before the price is nice for that car.On top everything you're just assuming that current owner did all this but maybe he just got the car one year ago from another crackhead.I agree it's a complete waste and in a way tragic to see a rare car treaded like that. But still the damage is done and nothing gonna change that i would buy that car and mess around with it.I like 82-84 t/a's and it's good chance to mod one.

Hello, did you even read this thread? It's an 83 Daytona. only 2500 made. only 1600 - 1700 made with those one of a kind wheels. Everything else about a daytona is irreplaceable: interior, all exterior emblems, wheels & hubcaps, driver's kneepad (daytona & 84 TA only), ground effects (also daytona & 84 TA only), front bumper inserts (also daytona & 84 TA only) etc. decals too, but someone makes those in aftermarket form. Most certainly is not "just another firebird".

You prove my point exactly! You think it's a dime-a-dozen car because someone stripped it down to one and now it looks like hell. See how many nice original low mile daytonas you can find under $5000 WITH the white wheels and WITH the decals and then tell me it's just another firebird, because I doubt you'll find one

Yes...I read this thread! Guess I didn't enlarge the photo. After a bit more looking, it might could be one. Looks like it has a bent rim & could used a few things. BTW, was it necessary for attitude? People can be wrong you know.

Well who ever contacted him and let him know, it worked. the car is now listed as a daytona anniversary model.

It also mentions that it was a theft recovery.

But i still think the car is in nice condition if everything is in decent shape.Engine tranny seats etc..Maybe they couldn't find the parts, maybe they bought the car thrashed didn't know much about thirdgens and just fixed it.Maybe hupcaps are in the trunk.Who knows?Anything is possible.

I doubt it has a bent wheel. That black spot is just the writing on the outer edge. It says "Pontiac" and "Aero" across from each other. that black spot looks like the "Aero".

anyway.. it's a car that will never again be original.. pretty sure about that. If they wanted to turn it into a useless mix&match they could've used a regular T/A, not a special edition..

this is the new link http://adcache.collectorcartraderonl...0/43293590.htm

I have an issue with people talking liek a hotshot about stuff they're not familiar with or stuff they skipped since they were too bored to read the whole thread but they're still out to impress someone or add another post to their counter or they are co-dependent, or whatever the case may be. One time there was a thread where people were specifically talking about an aftermarket speedometer, and it was a long thread.. then about 45 posts into it, some bozo jumps in and says "I think that is aftermarket". That kind of ignorance pisses me off. If you want to call that "attitude", that's your call.. and BTW I have strong opinions when I see a rare and worthy car being bastardized, like this one. If that's attitude, then I plead guilty.

To be honest with you, I don't know, because that looks like another mix&match backyard special that's been stripped of its uniqueness. there was NO 1983 firebird that left the factory looking like that, so I don't know WTF it really is.

having said that, I would guess that it IS a Daytona from the following observations:
it's a Norwood (All Daytona's were made at Norwood)
It's a crossfire, which is an otherwise unpopular option for 83 but very common on daytonas
it's got the 83 Daytona ground effects and solid front bumper inserts. NO 1983 Trans Am got those except for daytona.
I see a tiny little blemish on the front fender which is probably the daytona emblem.
Wheels look like N24's, valid (but unusual) for 83 daytona.
interior appears to have the recaro front bucket seats.
it's got t-tops, mandatory on Daytonas.

so it's got many features that probably mean it is a daytona, but a raped & pillaged one at that. It has at least been stripped of its unique 2 tone white/charcoal paint job, and all daytona decals seem to be missing. I'd bet the car had the white N89 Aero wheels originally and had them swapped out for these common wheels when the crack-smoking driver jumped one too many pot holes and lost a hubcap. Probably not worth much of anything.. I'd have to see more of it.

Dude, you need to lighten up a little. Just because someone actually drives these and enjoys them, doesn't mean they are crack smokers. Look at the mileage...someone at least enjoyed it. You're talking about a 20 year old car, sometimes original parts need replacing. I guess since these early 3rd gens don't have all original parts makes them all worthless?

Chill out a second.. there's plenty of mod-happy people on here. How many originality freaks are on this board? I gotta balance the scales somehow, and I'm doing it all myself. This is the History/Restoration board.. If I can't comment on that car here, then where can I? It's sad to see a rare car which is beyond UNrestorable. We're talking about a Daytona.. one modded here.. two modded there.. 5 crushed over here, 3 hillbillied over there, etc. Show me a nice original Daytona, and I'll show you TEN of your favorite thirdgen. You're lucky to have a TTA; those will have a massive following and parts availability for decades to come! While 83 Daytonas are already obsolete and unrestoreable; once something Daytona-specific is gone, chances are you'll NEVER find it again. Daytonas are few and far between and it hurts to see them changed and watered down. Besides, is my opinion THAT powerful that it's causing you to react this way? Blah. I'm just one guy who cannot afford to buy those cars and save them, so I'm watching from the sidelines and commenting. Nobody's forcing you to stop and read my post. I'm just one person out of 20K on here. As to my "crack-smoking" comment: get the door.. sarcasm is knocking.
