Who has/has seen...

I've got a pretty vanilla '91 firebird V6 but I keep finding odd things that make me wonder how common these things were. I have a TA hood that came from the factory to the best of my knowledge and the 5 spoke formula wheels. I've seen the wheels on several base firebirds but I've never seen the louvered hood on anything but a TA. So has anyone got or seen a base firebird with the louvered hood? I think it's an aero package but I haven't checked the RPOs yet, I'll copy those and check soon. Last question, what was the color code for the pure white in '91? I'm looking for touch up paint and I've found conflicting numbers.
tia,
David

More than likely, the hood and wheels were added by a previous owner. I've never seen that from the factory. Check the rest of the car for factory VIN stickers. I am not sure that you will have these, as I am not sure what kind of option this was, but if you have these on your door jambs, or on the rear hatch lid, or inside the fenders then you should have one on the underside of your hood. Also what does the "service information" sticker under the hood say. They are different from engine to engine. If you have your SPID sheet, the RPO for Formula wheels was PEO, and if you have that in there then this is very interesting, though I doubt it.
Hope this helps.

I'm 90% sure the first (I'm the second) owner didn't put anything like a hood or wheels on it. If it was anything not factory it was almost certainly from the dealer. I couldn't find the RPO sheet but I did grab the VIN and I also found a number stamped on the underside of the hood.

VIN: 1G2FS23TXML230837 (not 100% on the L)
Hood #: 14103677

Hope that helps shed some light on my car,
David

There is a 91 Firebird V6 up the street, that if the owner put decals on it, it would look identical to my Trans Am. Louvered hood, ground effects all of it stock from the factory. It could happen.

Check your RPO codes for T48. That should be the code for the optional hood. At least it was on the early thirdgens. Presumably base Firebirds shouldn't have it; only cars with the optional hood (in this case, the 4-hole TA/GTA hood) should have that code. Now that I think about it, the Formula hood might be T48, so the TA/GTA hood should at least be T-something-else

good luck

The RPO code is T46 for the GTA hood.
