today i was at a carlot and i was looking at buying a 91z28 its in
great shape and has a great inter and stuff it runs great and has performance
tires it has tpi and a 5spd its white and it is loaded and it is fast but they
are asking 4995 dollars for it should i get it and it has low miles and it was taken
care of askings

 

What color? Engine? T-Tops? Miles? These are important items to clear up before dropping 5K on a thirdgen.

 

its white it has no t tops and it has what i think is the stock
350 tpi motor that came with it and it sounds heathy and i just talked to them and it has a LT1 motor but i for got
to ask them how mine miles but it does have a performance chip and exhaust on it with a new
clutch and brakes

 

Id have to say Used Car lots are bad news. For them to sell the car they have to make a very good profit which means if they are asking 5000 they prob only paid 3000. Id run a carfax check on the car, to check for vehicle history and such. Did you drive the car? or did you just hear it run. Just be careful used car lots are bad news :nono: Also they didnt put 350 w/ a 5spd because it could not handle the tq of the motor. So either the motor is non stock the tranny is unstock, the seller lied or was wrong, or you mis heard. GL

 

ok thanks i think the engine is not stock becuase where the shifter is it
has 5spds on it i just want a thirtgen camaro agian but who knows i have a secgen camaro but the tranny whent out on me so im looking to buy a firebird or camaro i miss my 83berlinetta

 

That would be weird to see an LT1 swapped Camaro at a dealer. I would find someone who knows thier stuff and go have a look at the car with them. And most certainly you need to drive it before buying.

You want to know how many miles are on the body as well. That will give you a good guage of how the car was really treated. If the car has 25,000 on the engine and 400,000 on the body it's not a good deal.

a 305 to me but i dont know must about thirdgen camaro if it helps
it has center bolt vavle covers and i was going to fince it becuase i cant pay it all at once
but i think i will past on buying it thanks for the help

by the looks of the pictures its the 305tpi and i looked in my camaro book
at it has 140 to 170hp for that car what a dog so i think im going to use my money
and have my tranny fixed in my 81z28 i was looking at too thirdgen camaros today
one is a z28 dont know the year but looks like a 83 its been sitting a few years and the other one is a
camaro looks like it has the 305 in it and it has a 5spd its been sitting for a long time too i think i can
get one for a cheap price the z28s gray and the one with the 5spd is red

 

well if its a 305 tpi, then its got 190 hp, and if its a 5spd, then 215... 170 is the carb'ed lg4

yeah on the RS camaros with the V6 and 305 TBI...

I'm pretty sure the 305 TPI's were rated at about 220hp, and the 350s were about 245hp...which were the only engines available in the Z28,,,

 

Don't foget to look at the torque of the TPI engine. both LB9 and L98 have alot of it.
