Auto Transport
I am posing this here bc I could not find an appropriate forum for this topic.
I am looking to see if anyone has any experience with auto moving companies. I need a car brought up from NC to IL and do not want to take the time off work to go there myself, I'd loose more money than it would cost to ship it here, probably.
So, does anyone have any experience with any companies, have any thoughts or suggestions of who to deal with? I appreciate the info.
For the record this does have to do with History/Restoration, because I am probably buying a 1988 Formula, Maui Blue w/Two tone gray accent, Hardtop, 12k miles!!! If you look at the Formie at the top lefthand corner of the screen, that's the car there. And it is in NC.
Thanks
Mark

Reliable Carriers (http://www.reliable-carriers.com/) is the best car shipper, hands down. They ship all the show cars and other stuff like that. A friend of mine has been trying to get a job there for a while, knows alot of the drivers there. They are pretty serious about protecting their cargo.
I had my convertible shipped from TX to CA by DAS (http://www.dasautoshippers.com/), it arrrived the same condtion I bought it in, and on time. Many shippers have enclosed trailers... you might want to consider that with a 12k mile car.
If you can, try to inspect the car in person, and note any damage to it. Pay real close attention to the undercarriage, gfx, and especially the front and rear bumpers underneath, thats where they will screw it up if they do screw it up.

Thanks Madmax. I've got some quotes now and am really only interested in covered trailers, they're actually not that much more expensive than an open transport. I'll try those links, see what they say.

I've always had great luck with Passport Transport and all they offer is enclosed transportation...
