1985 Ho

My freind up the street is selling his T/A

He was asking 1500

It's a 5 speed car. Would this be a good restoration project?

It has an 84 hood and after driving it seems fairly tight.

I dont see too many 5 speed HO cars with WS6

He has the radio and pod and will be installing it later. The seats are from an 89 and the door panels are the wrong ones.

Snorkels are missing and it seems the secondaries are not opening.

I would say so. It looks cleaner than 99% of the ones in that price range that I have seen.

That's a good car, as far as what it was when built. As long as it's in halfway decent shape it's a good price.

Might even have the 9-bolt rear with 3.70 gears in it. That's the right kind of car to be a candidate for that.

Well, in the options list it says that it has 3.70 gears with posi so it might be a 9 bolt. I would definitely go for this car for only 1500.

Thats a pretty good car for the price. Thats about what I paid for my Z28 HO, and that L69 is a great engine. I don't think you'd reget buying an L69 car, especially with the 3.70 or 3.73 rear end gears and a 5 speed. I sure don't

That is a car with some potential. I would say it is worth it.

It needs a little work, but it doesn't look that bad. I'd probably get it for 1500

1500 seems like a good price for that car! I would definitely do it!

L69 is a good project engine.. relatively high compression, a decent cam, aluminum intake manifold, 4bbl carb...

Great base for modification.

It is entierly possible... but is the car in a place that gets a pretty cold winter? It could have been replaced merely because it cracked in the cold weather.. mine did.

Mine cracked right below the passenger side bumper grill.. right in the corner. I plan to replace mine as soon as i can get a nose peice and the money for paint.

A 85-87 LG4 has the same stuff except the cam. The cam isn't worth keeping anyway. As far as the best engine to start with IMO is the 87 LG4 with the factory roller cam. Same thing again as the 85-87 LG4's 83-86 L69's except it has the roller cam and lifters.

Still hey, it's a nice looking car and a low price. You could even part it out and get your money back if it turns out to be extremely rusty or something difficult/costly to repair

Since the hood was replaced and the stripes are missing I will look closer for signs of a collision, thanks for mentioning that.

Thanks for the replies !

I noticed that the T-Top glass has edge trim around it, my current 85 does'nt have this, why do you think this is so ?

Well I didn't want to part with it, but building a house isn't cheap ! I wanted it to go to someone who would take care if it, and bring it back to it's original glory. I feel better knowing it went to someone who will respect what it is, not hack it all up. It was a bummer parting with it knowing how uncommon it really is. I'd bet most of these cars are pretty hacked up, this one needed some minor work, but it's all there. It's not far away, so at least I can visit it ;-).

At least I still have my `68 Firebird H.O. Drop-top and my `75 T/A.

Chris
