86 Trans am
Hi there, just found this board. Lots of cool stuff here! Just a quick question, I have an 86 trans am with the LG4 and was wondering if it came with the 700R4? Some people have told me it came with the 2004R? I got the car recently so just wanted to know what transmission the car came with from the factroy. Thanks for any information.

I thought the 200R4 was for the Buick Engine bolt pattern???
I have been told, I do not know this, its hear say, that the 200R4 and the 700R4 use lots of the same parts but the major difference was case is different.
Welcome aboard...

you could get 2004R for chev engines, G-body's got them mostly
such as Monte Carlo's SS's had them and all the canadian Cutlass's 86 and 87 got them with LG4's
the 2004R came with a BOP and a CBOP pattern.
gearing is better then a 700R4, no big 1-2 drop
OD is a little better with .67
not sure about casing diffs.
