New Paint 87 IROC pics

Just picked up my 87 IROC from the paint shop. I had the hood louvers resprayed and the headlight blackouts detailed but not painted. When I purchased the IROC back in 1995 from orig owner...the paint (water base) was beginning to show slight signs of fade in areas..esp the hood and tail piece. Up until today...I never really saw the IROC in one shade of Bright Red. The paint looks good overall...a couple slight "micro" blemishes and a slight drip under the passenger side mirror....not really major. I am thinking of leaving the stripes off and just going with the door stickers. The car looks a bit "custom" (modern) w/o all the stripes and graphics. what's even more erie is the feeling that you just went back in time when you stand back and look at it.....esp since my seats are reapolstered about 2 years ago and the "Z" rated tires are only 1 year old and in good condition. Since this car was my daily driver...I was neglecting some of the minor things that aren't a big deal...but when they rack up..make the car run down... I AM DEFINATELY GOING TO TAKE CARE OF THESE NOW!

p/s Driving the IROC back to my home...I noticed that it was attracting more attention than a "raped date".

I took the car back to the paint shop for touch ups. There was a wheel well "lip" that wasn't sprayed and the ground affects facing the tire was also missed. I got my door "IROC-Z" silver stickers and holding off installing them.

Not sure yet if I will apply the door stickers...I kindof like the "stickerless" look.

Looks great! Something for me to look forward to Here is the current state of my project:

If you don't mind me asking, approx. how much does a job like that cost? If you don't want to answer that question, it's fine with me

Take care,
Matt

Cost $760 bucks. The body was pretty straight to begin with...they took out 3 door dings and did all the prep work. I will take better pics once I get the car back. When these pics were taken...I had just picked it up and driven it home... In the sun it looks a bit lighter. I just got my IROC-Z Silver door stickers. I will tape them on with some invisable tape to determine if I like the look....

Cheers

$760 isn't bad at all, it looks incredible! Is that basecoat/clearcoat, or one-stage urethane?

Where did you get it done. It looks like they did a good job and when I get ready to paint my car I may consider coming down to where you are to get my car painted.

For the most part...I am very happy with the job. THey did a great job respraying the loovers and I can only see one slight drip under the inside of the groud affects (out of site). I am not sure exactly the process the paint was applied...but it was the "middle" quality job... (which is what I am after for my high mileage daily driver).

New Pics-

I just took some pics outside in sun. I decided to go with the "IROC-Z" stickers on the doors. It wouldn't seem like an IROC....without (at least) the door stickers. The paint shop completed the wheel well and door jamb paint touch up.

Thanks guys.
The paint really looks better in person. On some of the pics..you can see a "fushia" teng that is a product of the digital camera. The color is close to mirror finish in Bright Red...real cool!!!

I am just happy that the car is now a single color!!! The stickers were pretty easy to apply. I grabbed my 1 1/16 scale model and used that as the reference point
