Hello-
I have an 87 IROC that I bought about 2 weeks ago. It was in a frontend wreck and I'm in the process of bringing it back to life. Here is my situation. It has the dual fan setup, all the factory wiring, and the factory relays, all of which was not spliced in. Either it is factory, or the entire engine harness has been swapped out for a newer one. The upper fan mount was broken in the accident, and it's to far gone to repair. I am trying to locate the P/N for it to buy a GM original (NO ONE HAS ANY USED
) , so I emailed the tech at gmpartsdirect.com and he said that in 87 it was only available with the single electric fan setup.
Any ideas?

He's wrong. 1987 was the first year the dual fan setup was used. It was used on all 305 TPI and 350 TPI's with A/C.

Correct. My 1987 Trans-AM is equipped with dual electric fans and AC. As is a friends 1987 Formula 350 which he is the original owner of. Both cars have TPI and AC.
Awesome guys, thanks for the help
Since that guy doesn't seem to be willing to work with me, and keeps insisting that it's not stock, I'll just have to give someone else my buisness
Thanks again

I have the information in back and white. When I installed the 350TPI motor in my 82, 5 years ago, I used the dual electric fan setup. I purchased all new Thirg Generation parts for the complete converson. As a matter of fact the only part under the hood is not third gen is the MSD box.
Anyway the part you are looking for is on page. 437 of the 2003 Classic Industry Firebird catalog. Since its in the Classic Industry catalog I doubt that any GM dealer couild get you the part. Classic Industry buys all of the GM left over stock.
The GM part number is 10069174 desc. PANAL, RAD, UPR. MTG(1988) There was a change in the design of the part in 1988. so 1987 owners needs to use the new part number.
Classic Industry part number is G7889 1987 to 1992 5.0F, 5.7-8(C41) $34.95

WOW! For anyone who cares to know, gmppartsdirect.com has the part for $19.93. They also have brand new NOS console lids for $45.00, whereas all the aftermarket ones are selling for $65-$75. Their customer service sucks, but the prices are great!
Bruce, do you happen to know if that is the same mount for a camaro? I think the core support is formed slightly differently between the two cars. the firebird does something like this with the upper part under the mount: _-------_ The camaro's is straight like this: ----------
Thanks
