i know the 90-92 GTA's werent available with t-tops and a 350 motor, i know 89 you could get t-tops and a 350 motor. but what about 87 & 88?? i've been looking for an 87 GTA with t-tops but have noticed all the ones out there have 305's. could you not get a 350 w/t-tops in 87?

 

Yep, you could get the t-tops and the 350 from '87-'89. '90 appears to have been the transition year, with very few t-top'ed 350 cars made. I sure wish mine came with a 350... lol

 

i have personally seen an 87 to 91 with rpos L98, B2L, and CC1

you could get any year with the 350 and t-tops...just a lot harder to find

 

sorry f-crazy, but you are dead wrong. 1990-1992 GTAs could not be made with 350 & t-tops. the only 350 w/t-tops in 92 was the Formula with black crosslace wheels.

Well......sorry amandagregory,....but you are dead wrong! 92 is the only year with the 350 ttop unavailable. In 91, it could be ordered....

As for your 87 350,....you'll have to find one that was made late in the production run, as it wasn't available at first.

 

A friend of mine has a T-Top 1991 GTA with a 350. They are the dealer installed aftermarket T-Tops though.

The only time you can't get a 350 with T-Tops is when you order G92. For some reason G92 delete the T-Top option. And it shouldn't have.

 

i guess i should have just asked about the 87 w/t-tops. seems their are still some out there who dont know there facts. 90-92 GTA could NOT be ordered w/ 350 & t-tops from the FACTORY. Period. Straight from GM. if you want to believe that you could get it in 91 feel free to live in the aftermarket world.

 

thats kinda funny actually...a buddy of mine has a 91 formula 350 BCL wheels with t-tops....you said its 92?....hmmmm maybe i have to send jim a link to this thread lol....

if you want to beleive that you couldnt get a 91-92 gta with t-tops and L98 then your DEAD WRONG....you could get ANY year with the L98 and t-tops...but you couldnt get it with G92...

the RPO code for t-tops is CC1....

thats funny because ive seen it on the same rpo sheet as L98, B2L AND J65

and id rather live with genuine GM parts thank you =)

Yes, and No. Initially for 1987, only 5.0L GTAs could have T-tops installed; they were not, according to the order sheets, available in any Firebird model with a 5.7L engine. This must have changed at some point during the year, as I have seen 1987 GTAs with both options.


According to Pontiac order sheets and production records, all GTAs were subsequently available with both the 350 TPI engine and the T-top option from 1988 through the 1990 model year. The combination was not marketed aggressively due to structural concerns, but it was available.


Starting in 1991, all 350 TPI GTAs were available as hardtops only. There are a few 1991 5.7L GTAs with the hatch roofs, but it is generally considered to have been unavailable."



Well, this will probably be my last post on this thread, because there is only so much time in my life that I am willing to spend on someone DEAD set on his stubborness....But what can you except from someone who hasn't yet mastered the elementary rule that you aren't supposed to steal.....especially from your friends (Sorry, to let you down, but I'm not your friend,....I'm refering to friends as we belong to the same community TGO)?

If you ordered G92 it deleted the T-Top option. I have also heard that really early in 1987 you couldn't get T-Tops on L98 cars. I am not positive on that. But I do know you can not get G92 and T-tops on a L98. Why I don't know. It sounds retarded to me.

And you most definatley can get T-tops on a 91 350. I don't know if they were all aftermarket or not. But a friend of mine has a 350 car with T-Tops. They are aftermarket and the car does NOT have G92. Another friend of mine tried getting T-tops in 1987 with a 350 and G92 and they wouldn't let him.

I think what needs to happen here is someone needs to provide proof of a 1991 350 car with Factory T's to end the debate. My $0.02.
