Under dash plastics with Bose stereo poll

I was docked points this past summer at a car show for missing internal plastics under the dash of my car. The owner of thirdgen resource judged my car and said I was missing the "hush" panels. Willie informed me that he believes all 87 and 88 350 cars were missing the plastics. He then later speculates that it could be because of the Bose amplifiers in the kick panels.

If the car originally had plastic covers, the interior lights (if equipped) would be held in place by the plastics. Without the plastics, there is a metal bracket that holds these lights.

I'd like to know who has what.

I guess the poll won't combine results to give us the combination so you might want to reply to the post also.

I have an 87 with the 350 and Bose, no under dash plastics covers

Car: 1984 Camaro Berlinetta
Engine: LT1
Transmission: T56 6-speed
Axle/Gears: 4.11 LS1 Rear End
My Bose configuration is as follows......

2-4" in each kick panel
2-4" in the dash
2-6x9" in the sail panels
2-6" in the hatch

I have the little clips holding the courtesy lamps on each kick panel and I have "hush" panels under the dash.

I can't reply to the poll because my Car is an 84 Berlinetta,..... Obviously the BOSE is not stock ! I know that doesn't help with your question - but I knew you would be scratching your head when you read the beginning of this message !

I was wondering about the dash and rear sail panel speakers. Thanks for clearing up the nan stock portion.

Willie, I saw in another post that someone with an 88 did have the panels and also the Bose setup. I have not heard from any other 87 350 owners. What was Chevy thinking? I might need to put in a call to a friend in Detroit.

I've had three thirdgens, none were BOSE. All three have the hush panels.

First was an 85 Z28, 305 TPI.
Second was a 92 RS, 305 TBI.
Third and current is 87 IROC-Z, 305 TPI. I Just took out and replaced the factory speakers and noticed that the 6x9's were 10 ohm speakers, and they said something like "delco premium sound" on them. They also have the little fiber basket enclosures behind them. Was this standard treatment, or some sort of premium package?

Which part? The 10 ohm speakers or the fiber mesh insulators. The insulators are standard with the 6x9 speakers. They cut down on vibration. I don't know about the 10 ohm speaker part.

Both It's not a big deal, I took the speakers out to replace them, and I'll be making the enclosures smaller, sealing them, and impregnating them with fiberglass resin anyways. Make me some enclosures

Thanks
