ok a guy i know just got a black 1988 firebird formula 350 with the cloth drop top convertilbe top.i know they did this top on cameros but firebirds?? he was told by the original owner that it came from the factory like this(1 of 3). others say it has to be after market or a dealer install job? did they ever run the firebird thru the camero production line? is the car maybe a proto type of some kind? the guy has alot of questions but this top does look very neatly done not hacked.any help would be great. thanks

 

Firebirds were converted to convertibles also. This car would have been a T-top car sent in for the conversion by the dealer or the owner. There were T-topped 350 cars sent in to be done by ASC. Plenty of discussion threads here on this subject. Do a keyword search and you should turn up all kinds of information on what to look for on the car to confirm this.
