Car: '87 Firebird

Engine: L98

Transmission: T56

Axle/Gears: 3.73

Tranny Identification

Hello, I got a transmission from a guy (700R4) and it's got the torque arm tailshaft on it. The # on the side of it is:8TUM292B. Now I know that it must be an '88 and the 292B is the date and shift respectively but what is the TU? Just trying to figure out what it originally came out of. (Was told a GTA)
