At first glance that is what they appear to be. However if HP realy is horsepower, then it should be 190 for an 86 TPI.

that's what i thought too, i have the 4500-5000 tach too so it should be 190, but the invoice got me confused, way back when i first got my camaro i raced a stock 86 trans am with a 305 tpi and beat him, only thing i had was a flowmaster exhaust and high flow cat, his trans am was all orginal and mint, but i pulled a fender on him at the top end. I'm really confused now.
The car was ordered 11/85 and titled/vin 1986 model, somewhere there is a mix up, guess when i pull the engine i'll measure the cam to see...

I don't know the HP on mine is 190 which is correct. Maybe there is a mistake there in 86.

I received my invoice from Jenn the other day. I have a 1991 Z28, with the LB9, 305 TPI, 205 Horsepower.
My invoice has:
HP 44.8 SW 3387
So I doubt if the HP stands for Horsepower.

Well I looked at mine and for the LB9 86 IROC-Z and for my LB9 89 IROC-Z the HP numbers were the same as the years advertised horse power.
HP 190 >> 86 LB9
HP 195 >> 89 LB9
For my case it seems to hold true, if it is true then bcnvz28 you got screwed seeing you only have 44.8 HP. LOL

Wow, my car was lighter than I thought! Gotta get it weighed with gas in it though. I wanna know what it weighs without me in it.
I just looked at my SW, and it was 3,396lbs! 350/auto. GTA.
Though, T-tops were added later by C&C (why not ordered that way from the dealer though ASC I don't know). So its probably more now.

HYPOTHESIS:
It very well may have been something they put into the computer, IF they felt like it. Somewhere along the line there would be someone who would input data, if they got lazy (like that would ever happen to a GM employee) they decided not to put in some of the information... HP is really not important to the building of the car, so the default was 45.0

looking at both of my invoices...
84 sport coupe. orginally a v6. now a v8.
hp = 107
sw = 2961
84 z28.
hp = 150
sw = 3327
these cars were ordered roughly a month and a half apart. i may call both dealers and see if they still have information. i'd like to possibly contact the original buyers of both of my cars.

just curious--what does DEA mean? I got a copy of my invoice from GM and it has it on there like 3 times. Also was sold to General Services in Kansas mo. I always thought it was ordered by the govt as a pursuit car.
Anyone ever seen or heard of this before?

DEA = Dealer? I would have to see it in context

A formula could be possible considering when you look at the Camaro Police cars they all used the RS, the Formula is similar in the fact that it is a little less expensive in its raw form... Not to mention the formula handled better than any of the other models for any particular year.
However I would be more inclined to think the police cars would get the base firebird look, the basic wing, and flat hood, no buldge, but with a 350, kind of like what they did with the RS...
Now that I think about it, back when the MI state Police were using the Mustang, they used the LX, not the GT model as well...
Further thinking... I would not be surprised if that was pretty well typical, you take a base model and add the engine of the upper model for the police package. I would almost be willing to bet that a "Z28" or "Trans Am" police cars were not availble, except for a show purpose, like a "DARE" car....

When I got the car I was able to see where all the police equipt was mounted(at the time I didn't know what it was tho).
where the trunking system was mounted, wig wags, and a whole bunch of dead switches under the dash w/heavy duty wiring going to it that was snipped.
had over 101,000 miles on it(back in 94). Looked like crap! Banged up-never washed--broken tranny mount--but man was the motor dry and it hauled!! That's what made me buy it!! Driest 3rd gen motor(underneath) I've ever seen!! I used to break the tires loose at 20 mph or lower if I punched it while I was rolling.
