91 RS Wheel Options

My question concerns the 16" aluminum wheels available as an option on 91 Camaro RS'.

Were the 16" RS wheels the same as the Z28 wheels that year, with the same width (8") and offsets front and rear? If not the same then what are the specs for the 16" RS wheel? Thanks.

i believe the only difference was the RS's came with p235 tires instead of the p245

my RS also has the color match option on the rims

Yeah the standard RS tires (for the optional 16" wheel) were 235's as stated below.

From the Tech Data section on this site-

The standard wheel for the Z28 was a newly styled 16 inch wheel. Standard tires for the Z28 were P235/55R-16 tires; P245/50ZR-16 tires were optional on the Z28, and standard on 350 Z28 and Z28 convertible.

RS was available for the first time with 16 inch wheels. Tires for the 16 inch wheels on the RS and RS convertible were P235/55R-16.

My original question made the assumption that the 91 Z28 wheels had the same width and offset as my 87 IROC. I believe they are the same. The info above also leads me to believe the RS and Z28 16" wheels were the same. I'm just trying to confirm this from someone with direct experience.

Yes, the 91/92 Z28 wheels are the same as the ones offered on the 91/92 RS. Only RS's with the Lo3 could have ordered the 16" wheels. 235's came standard on Z's and the only tire offered for RS w/ 16's. They are front/ back specific, so look for the coining in the hub.

Thanks for the responses. They confirm the information I found at this site: Camaro and Z28 Wheels. The 91 RS 16" and Z28 wheels are the same.

My buddy had a '91 RS jut like mine except it was white, had the performance suspension (F41 IIRC), and the 16" wheels...

Personally, I like the look of the color matched 15" wheels, though the 16's definately do help handling...

on a side note: I think one difference between the 16" Z-28 and the RS were the tires, I would not be surprised if the Z28 got the 245/50 R16 and the RS only got 215/55/ R16's like the Trans Am without the WS6 option. THe above drawing is with the 245's because I always thought the 215's looked kind of weenie...

ok, that would make sence, I knew they were smaller, just did not know the size.
