ok. my friends dad has an 86 caprice with a 305...im pretty sure its just an LG4....he swears it came with vortec heads because it says Vortec on the valve covers...i tried to tell him his dad just put the vavle covers on regular heads....

so heres my question....did vortecs ever come stock on any thirdgen...or did those heads no come out until the middle 90's....

 

No, Vortec anything was never on any thirdgen.

Vortecs first came out in 96 in trucks.

I have found several places putting the first Vortec in a 96 truck, but I had a 4.3 in my 95 S-10.

 

this is also coming from a kid who thinks his dad's stock 86 caprice is the fastest car in the world..that is could beat my car in the quater mile...i tried not to laugh in his face..i know my car isnt the fastest but i know i will not get beated by a caprice..
