Re: All 87 Camaro LT owners
Post pictures of your car; exterior front, side, and rear to see the stripes on it, the interior and wheels (if they are still stock).
Btw, all LT's had 14" stock steel wheels with full covers and optional 14" aluminum wheels (Berlinetta style without the gold) with argent center paint from the factory.

Re: All 87 Camaro LT owners
From the looks of the steering wheel and 15" standard sport coupe wheels specific to the 1987 sport coupe models without the LT package, you may have a non-LT equiped sport coupe but with package 1SD which is fully loaded sport coupe.
A fully loaded LT would have the overhead console, fog lights, power driver's seat, Auto dim rear view mirror, and power outside mirrors. This is for the coupe and t-top cars as the convertibles would have the overhead console and auto dim mirror delete for obvious reasons.

Re: All 87 Camaro LT owners
Looks like it is a regular sport coupe with some options added. 1SD is the top of the line package for sport coupe and LT. The B4E is needed to make it an LT.
Look here: http://www.nastyz28.com/camaro/camaro87.html
hat makes your car one of 83,890. Sorry. Would have been nice to find another LT out there but still a nice find for $350. Good luck with your project.

Re: All 87 Camaro LT owners
I'll have to dig up some pics, but I had a 1987 LT in the year 2000. I loved that car.
It was maroon with a maroon interior and loaded! Day/night rear view mirror, power driver seat, 305 ci V8, power mirrors.
Everything was stock and it had about 57k miles on it when I got it. I cleaned it up nice, put a replacement exhaust system and that was it. I then went to college and sold it to some girl who wrecked it in no time. So sad.

Re: All 87 Camaro LT owners
It's never cool to see a car go that way. No one drives my car ever! I thank my ex-fiance for that one. Had too much to drink at the Cheesecake Factory and she offered to drive us home. She got a little too wild behind the wheel and ticked me off. Never again.

Re: All 87 Camaro LT owners
Hey Everyone,
My friend is looking for an 87 Camaro LT in Maroon / flame red in nice shape. Either LG4 or a 2.8 doesnt matter, prefer it to be a factory 5-speed car though if possible. Must be maroon. Anyone know of any?
Thanks!
Erik

I know of one but it's not for sale. You won't find a factory 5-speed with the LG4. Only the V6 LT's were allowed to have a 5-speed. Good luck in your search. I think there was only 794 LT's made.

Interesting, I didn't know that! Can't believe the production run was that short on those! I will let him know. Thanks so much!

Re: All 87 Camaro LT owners
I have a 1987 Camaro LT ttops 2.8 5 speed engine had 120k miles when i bought it. car was in mint condition bought it for 2k. Rear main seal was leaking a few days after i bought it the guy i got it from never said anything. That engine was swapped for a Jegs 350. ive owned it for 3 years and ended up wrecking it 9 months ago im in the process of rebuilding it. This is the only LT ive seen that has the LT badge.

Re: All 87 Camaro LT owners
Sucks it got wrecked but cool deal that you are bringing it back. Our cars are the same color and stripes. Mine has the red interior and came with the optional V8. I have the same 14" wheels you have, but stored them away after I installed the 17" Ronal wheels.
From the pictures, I don't see the sail panel LT badges. Did you remove it?
And don't forget, they only made 794 Camaro Sport Coupes with the LT package for the 1987 model year.

Re: All 87 Camaro LT owners
Here are a few pics I snapped of an '87 LT a couple of years ago at a local show. I don't care much for the stripes, but otherwise the car appeared to be in great shape. Never got a chance to chat with the owner, and have not seen the car since

Re: All 87 Camaro LT owners
It's a nice straight body but I agree with the stripes not suiting the car. One of the reasons I fell for the my LT were the stock around the window to the fender stripes and the lower stripes. Sounds odd but so am I. Lol.
I've noticed how people place the CAMARO name above the impact strip on the front fenders instead of below it where it goes. I took them off when I first got my car but the LT sail panel logos stayed of course.

Re: All 87 Camaro LT owners
I hope you preserved that build sheet. I didn't find mine until years later and was a bit tattered. But I saved all I could as well as the RPO code decal when I replaced the center console. The one thing that really pissed me off was the previous owner removed the build date sticker on the drivers door but I was lucky enough that when I called GM in 1993, they were able to tell me my car was built in September of 1986.

Re: All 87 Camaro LT owners
Factory "LT" was an option for the Sports Coupe and "really" not it's own separate model. ( kinda' like IROC was an option for for Z28.) Do you have the original RPO code tag under the console pad ?? If you have an RPO Tag check to see if the VIN on that tag matches the VIN in the windshield. If the numbers are the same,.... look on the RPO sheet for option code B4E.
I don't know if there is a POSITIVE way to ID an LT without that code showing.
