The rear seats seem really far apart in the picture. Is that the way they are supposed to be? What is diffrent from that and the split back seats?
All the high back seats used in the 88 GTA notchbacks and the 89 TTA have the gap between the seats.

Does it have the stock seats? If not, that sure would lower the value of this badboy. They look like 4th gen firebird seats to me.

IIRC They are the stock seats on the 1989 TTA's and GTA's.Originally posted by Dustin Mustangs

Yup, stock leather for a GTA. I have seats sitting in my garage just like that exept they are torn and cloth.
Here is a picture from the rear.

The picture I posted is from a T-Top TTA car. So... hence the T-Top bag. This is not a picture from the hardtop car in the ebay ad.Originally posted by jms

If you are refering to carpet on the plastic trim like the T/As had up until 1986, you are right. The carpet does go down in to the rear well area.No carpeted cargo area?

Car is at $20,100 with 20 hours to go. I wonder what the reserve is?

I guess every car is worth whatever the owner feels. But $30k is absolutely ridiculous for that car. I understand not many TTA's were made. Yes they are sweet and this one is very low mileage, but IMO it's not worth $30k, collector or not. Sad thing is, some collector will prob pay that.Originally posted by Dr G

$22,100 impresive, but not enough to hit the reserve.

I noticed something, where are the "TURBO TRANS AM" emblems on the front fenders, or was that an optional decal?

Good Eyes! Their were about 350 cars which were built without the "Turbo Trans Am" emblems when PAS (the 3rd party assembler of TTA specific content) ran out. The cars were shipped to the dealers without the emblems. The emblems were made available to the owners later through their Pontiac Dealer. Many owners decided not to install them for what was to be considered "original".

Here is the information from the 89 Turbo Trans Am web site:

By the way nice artwork!

Hi Dave!
You got it alittle bit wrong!
The site says after the first 350 were built, the rest didn't have the emblem!
However, my car, number 231 came without the "Turbo Trans Am" emblems. My car was also missing one of the Indy wings as well! But, my glove map pocket was there!! Alot of those were taken off at the dealerships! By the want-a-be new owners!
Okfoz!
You have a great drawing, but you need to add the "Indy" wings on the aero pacage right under the "Turbo Trans Am" emblem!

Mine was 1387 and the emblems were in the owner's box and never were installed. Made for a nice cleaner look

The information I provided is from the Russ's site. So I cannot say anything about the exact numbers or when it occured in what sequence. The fact remains cars were shipped without the emblems and provided to the owners later..... I am not sure about your car and it's missing its Indy emblem. I noticed it has all the emblems now. So it is not as it was built originally! LOL
I am not sure about the missing Map Pocket emblem scenario. My Hardtop (1456) did not have one. It was put on by the guy I bought the car from. This car never actually sat at a dealership. It was bought and stayed on MSO until 2002. It too may have been a situation were some of the late cars did not get them due missing production inventory.

George don't be too harsh on Okfoz. You will notice in his text he stated his drawing was missing some of the emblems.....Originally posted by Mr. TurboTA

Could the info be backwards, the first 350 did not have the emblem but after that they did?
I am also missing the INDY 500 emblem on either side of PONTIAC on the windshield and the ram air scoop setup under the middle of the car. I think I have a later version or at least I have the wings made, and not on the car... I will have to look.

are we happy now George? Or are you going to let me know that the center caps should have "Performance suspension" around the WS6?

Just giving you a hard time.

Just giving you a hard time.
Supreme Member
Well Okfoz,
Yes, the caps should say that! HeHe!
But...............you also forgot the Goodyear lettering as well! And don't forget the arrows in the right direction!!
Yes, it was the first cars built that got the emblems!
The dealership gave me the original fax (you can tell how old it was, it spit up throught the top of the machine, and had to be ripped off!), stating so! I still have it! It's about 6 inches tall, not on a full sheet of paper!
If you ever make copies in limited runs of this artwork, I would love to get #231 signed from you, as I have car #231! Let me know!
Dave,
How do you know? It could have been! Then, ripped off on the factory line. or shipping to PAS, or at PAS (East Los Angeles, remember?), or in shipping back to Van Nuys, or in shipping to the dealership, or in the back parking lot before I got there to pick up my car! Heck, it even could have been you!!!!!

I'm watching you!!!
Man, just think what we wanted to get, while we went on the tour that one year! Remember those export cars? Or the GTA taillights? Too bad we didn't have bigger pockets! We should have handed out our cards to everyone, telling them to contact us if they had anything for sale!!
Oh ya, your emblem could have disappeared the same way I listed above! Funny how all those tie tacts came out afterwards, huh??
Later guys,
George

George,
I agree there’s so much mystery around what happened and when with these cars. I guess it could be due the fact that PAS did the final content assembly rather than GM. So they did not have the strict processes in place. LOL I do remember the plat tour we took in 1992 and how easy it was for cars not to be completed correctly. My 89 GTA did not have the gold "PONTIAC" emblem on the headlight when it was built. I added that later after a few people complained it was missing and the car was not stock.
Okfoz,
I do like the artwork and if you ever do create prints let me know. I would take numbers 90 & 1456 for my cars. Maybe you could do a non T-Top version like my hardtop for #1456?
