85' firebirds with 5.0?

can somebody clear this up for me,i thought they only came with 2.8's, unless i was seeing a formula , i happened to stop by a dealer today that had one outside, wanted 3800 for it , 90 thousand miles, it was white and had a wierd colorful stripe on the bottom of the car, it said 1985 firebird 5.0,...i asked the guy if it was a formula he siad it was just a reg firebird.. if it was a formula dont they usually say formula around the door? .

The 2.8 was the standard engine in the Firebird in 85, and the LG4 5.0 was the optional engine.

And that wierd colorful stripe along the bottom was the striping package they put on the two tone cars. Was the car grey on the bottom? If it was, I bet the stripe was bright orange and went to black on the bottom. Mine had the same stripe until I had the car re-painted and saw how much GM wanted for that stripe, all I have to say is, they're darn proud of it.

oh okay so the LG4 is the 5.0,hm i wonder how much that option was, wouldnt that make it like a trans am then, trans ams are 5.0's or 5.7? ...why GM had to be so confusing in the 80's .was this option available for a 90? i dont understand why people back then would want a 2.8 , and yeh the stripe was an ugly orange to black, never seen anything like it before! .. other then the ugly stripe and the bumper covers that i hate so much and think look so ugly on firebirds, the car was in pretty daymn good shape! , interior was nice and clean other then a little rip on the driver seat, no dents or signs of rust on the car...if the car wasnt so ugly id prob try to fool the guy into trading my 90 for it . he thought i had a 5.0...some sellers should know more about the cars they sell

The LG4 was an optional engine on a basic Firebird, but it was also the base engine on the Trans Am.
