plastic t-tops ?????
i have a set of plastic t-tops or whatever they are and one has a crack in it so i bought a set of glass ones and the plastic is considerbly lighter than the glass and the plastic doesnt shatter like glass are the plastic ttops rare or were they pretty common on the 92s
The lexan ttops were used from 88-92, the rarity comes into play because GM had all kinds of problems with the lexan. They revised them multiple times and offered glass replacements as a no cost swap under warranty. The result is that some cars came new with lexan, some came new with glass, some have been swapped because of cracking in the lexan, others have been swapped from junkyards, etc... So basically either ttop could be correct for any 88-newer car, but its nearly impossible to tell what the car came with originally.
The lexan T-s squeek more, because its a plastic/rubber contact instead of glass/rubber. Also they tend to bow up more in the center giving the roof a bubble look. They're also very darkly tinted so they're nice when you don't want the glare... Then there's the weight issue... a lexan t can be waved around with one hand easily, as where the glass ttops are definitely a two hand deal. Too bad the lexan tops get internal cracks, otherwise they'd be nearly perfect.

Yeah, I got Lexan tops and they are cracked all to Hell!
But since you can only see the cracks from the inside, its not really much of an issue. And they do weigh much less than the glass ones.

My lexan tops SUCK!!! They are cracked all over the place. They are splotchy on the outside, like someone spilled acid on them. They have bowed in the center and leak air, so at 50 MPH all you hear is air rushing in. They are also are scratched all over the place on the outside. Everything that can go wrong with the lexan t-tops, has gone wrong with mine. It sucks
