1984 Trans Am
I found a black 84 Trans am that has t-tops and gold ground effects of it at a local junk yard, but it has some options that I have never seen before. First of all, it has a power drivers seat, some type of a pad alongside the drivers side of the console up by the radio (maybe for resting your knee on?), and a cover that goes over the deep part of the trunk area. Have I found some sort of a rare Trans Am? The guy at the junkyard wants $150 for it. The car was through and engine fire so the passenger side fender is burnt up and the motor is gone.

well, the cover that goes over the cargo area is not too rare of an option, just something that was available through the 3rd gen production run to add a little bit of security. as for this pad you mention, would it be possible to get pictures? it might have been an aftermarket add-on, or might be perfectly normal...i would have to see it to know...

The leg pad on the center console was an option on all 1984 T/A's. It was standard on the 1983 DT500 Pace car replicas.
The rear trunk lid is not very rare either.
