Trying to gauge info/worth on an RS I may buy...

So here's the info so far. I've seen the car but not driven it yet.

Here are the results for your query on: 1G1FP23E0NL164954

Made in: United States
Manufacturer: General Motors
Make: Chevrolet
Carline Code: F-Body
Carline Series: Camaro (all models)
Body Type: 2 door coupe (hatchback)
Restraint System: Manual belts (driver inflatable)
Engine Code: 305 ci V8 L03 (1988-1992)
0 is the CHECK DIGIT
Model Year: 1992
Assembly Plant: Van Nuys
Production Sequence: 164954

The car is teal, I believe, with a gray or graphite interior (hard to tell at night). The front GFX looks beat up pretty good with a little filler here and there; the paint itself looks not bad. It has the double-vein five-spoke wheels, as well. Looks to have the appropriate RS badging. Automatic, disk/drum, ttops, and I'm assuming the following numbers from the Tech Data here on TGO (yet to actually look under the hood):

92 RS, A4, LO3 V8 305ci, 9.3:1 compression, 170hp@4000 255trq@2400, TBI intake, 2.73 rear.

There is some work to it. Has a small cowl hood (2 or 3 inches), but has the ridge in the middle (never been a fan of those). It looks lowered I guess an inch or maybe 1.5" and has some polished exhaust tips coming out the back. They don't look very big really, but I'll get all the details tomorrow when I meet they guy selling it. There are also some blackouts on the taillights.

He's asking $2900 obo. To me, that sounds a little high, but I know nothing about TBI engines or the worth of later model thirdgens. It's not a ridiculous asking price, but I'm guessing it's probably worth somewhere between 2,000 and 2500. Anyone have some insight?

I would agree. between 2,000 and 2,500 sounds fair. A good deal would be below 2,000. I was looking at basically the exact same car a few months ago, but in worse shape and the blue book on the car with over 200,000 miles on it and considered "fair" condition (dents and rust all over) was worth $1,500. So i would evaluate it more when you see it, look at the interior, underneath the doors, rear fender wells, all the rust hot spots, and go from there... Hope this helps..
