If it is just faded, then its from an 82-84. Some 84's had the 5.0HO under the Z28 logo, but I don't remember the rest.

hmm.. Now that I read the description a bit more, they say the tabs on the back are all fine?

If I am not mistaken, there are no tabs on the dash emblem as it's held on by 3M tape which in this case might suggest this is not a dash emblem rather a lower ground effect emblem?

No there are indeed tabs on the back of Z28 dash emblems. I have a few in my collection for reference.

cant find the link, but i do remember they were only sold at Vic Romanos SEASIDE Chevrolet in Phoenix, AZ.

In all honesty i have no idea where that is from, it could be faded but its kinda weird that it would be right along the line like that, but it is possible. Has any company ever made repro emblems??? That would be a good place to start.

I'm thinking it's a repro with bad ink that faded on the other two colors. The bottom red is regular red, but the other 2 colors are shades of red which require other colors to create. The red might be good and the other colors needed to make the 2 other bands might not be fade resistant.

Abubaca, this was a legitimate question about the validity of this piece. We all know the colors are not original being purple and all. We are trying to figure out what this piece is from and why it's discolored. No need to bash the comments made on this one. others, yes, but this can turn ugly if we're not careful.

Also, looking at the piece, it appears to have the soft plastic coating over the letters. The later year dash emblems were plain painted plastic and not protected by clear plastic. I have an 82 Indy dash plaque that is coated, but are the other 82-84 dash plaques coated? As for the exterior badging, that's where the clear coating was used. I would say that this is a badly faded touch up or repro.

Not all of them just the ones with the :hail: T-5's and ZF-6's got those the auto '86 L98 cars where just like the IROC's of that year.

I thought my comments came across pretty light hearted. Guess not.

Red would fade to orange, not purple.

I'm sure someone made it. I know I made mine!

Is the clear plastic easily seperated from the black backing? I know this is a hack job, but I was unaware that you could seperate the 2 plastics and recreate the emblem. If someone had a funky colored car, they might want funky colored emblems.

Red will fade to orange, if the red fades. This looks like the red didn't fade but whatever they did at the top, faded.

BTW, I reread the response you originally posted and see the lightheartedness behind it. I was looking at all the responses and some seemed way out there while others are serious.

I like the unobtanium pieces the best!!

In closing, it's a hack, not original and looks horrible!
