Looking at a 89 GTA for parts

Tomorrow I will be going to look at a 89 l98 gta that got hit hard in the back. from the pics, the interior looks perfect, both doors are in good shape, as are the fenders. The odomoeter is showing 98k, and the owner said the the engine was pretty well taken care of. The trans is new, and the rear is still good. and it has 4 wheel disks. Also, the wheels have now marks on them what-so-ever...
I plan on using the Engine, Trans (maybe), Rear, Bumper support, and maybe some other things... I plan on selling whatever I dont use.
What do you think would be a good price to pay for the car?

Also.....What rear ends where available on an L98 with rear disks in 89?

HI there. All 89 GTAs came standard with four wheel disc brakes. Also, they all came with the same GM limited slip differential, but with two different gear ratios. Look in the center console for the RPO code sheet.

If you find the code 'GW6' it is a 3.21:1 gear, and a code of 'GM3' is a 3.45:1 gear (and much rarer).

Also, look for the code 'Y84', this will tell you for sure that this car is a GTA. It never hurts to be careful.

well I went to look at the car, and they are asking 1200...I dont think I can talk to them down to anything reasonable...do you guys have any idea what I should offer them? The Dash is perfect, so I can probably sell that, and the wheels are mint gold GTA wheels...
I guess I am at a crossroads now...should I get the car and build up the L98 and use the parts I need and then sell whatever else is left, or just.....I dont know...any suggestions?

Unfortunately even though it might have a "New Transmission" it might be shot from the collision. I have seen where a rearending would jam the driveshaft into the back of the tranny, making it worthless...

Without looking at it.
$600... Since the engine would be the only definate salvagable part. Other than interior. ALL of our cars are worth less than the sum of all thier parts. If you want an accurate estimate of its value, then take it or have a damage appraisal done to it by a bump & paint shop. then take the KBB price, and subtract the estimate for repairs, thats what I would pay.

In windows, right click on the image, and then save the file to a location, remember the location, then when you make a new post, click attach File "Browse..." button and then find the image...

You could probably get $300 or better just for the wheels alone on eBay, so take that into consideration on their price.
