What year in particular? The 89-90 RS and 85-90 IROC bodies are the same. 91-92 RS have different gfx. IROC wheels are typically (but not in all cases) 16". 89-90 RS wheels are typically (but not always) 15". In 91-92, the RS could be ordered with the 16" Z28 wheels. I'm sure there are numerous exceptions, its hard to generalize about these cars.

Drive a IROC-Z and you will know the differences.

Is the '91 RS shorter in length than the '88 Iroc Z28?

No, why do you think that?

In reality there is very little difference in appearance between the IROC & the RS.

Keep in mind the 2 cars were only available together for 2 years, 89 & 90. Even then the 90 Production run was a short one. (not including the target market 88 RS')

The only differences off the top of my head are wheels, badging, hood and grille. Both models used the same GFX & 3 piece "duck tail" spoiler.

88 Sport coupes were the last models with 2-tone body/GFX & the one year only low rise spoiler. The IROC was dropped after '90, but both the 91-92 Z28 & RS used the same GFX... differences again were badging, hood, wheels & grille, as well as the new spoiler for the "Z". Even then, the RS had the option of the Z's 16" wheels

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's it

When I looked through the readers rides (just a minute ago) about half the tail light shots I saw of 89 RS's where the grid style, other other half where the black stripe down the middle.

just did some searching here on the board here :
https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/techdb.shtml

states in the camaro history part

RS was available for the first time with 16 inch wheels. Tires for the 16 inch wheels on the RS and RS convertible were P235/55R-16. RS also got the grid taillights like the Z28. The CHMSL was moved from the spoiler to the inside top edge of the hatchback glass. The slightly smaller non-CHMSL spoiler from 1982-1986 replaced the CHMSL spoiler on the RS.

The 87-90 RS had the old Z28 style taillights. The 91-92 were the only ones with the grid from the factory. The IROC-Z appeared to sit lower because of the 16" wheels. The overall height of both models was the same. 87-90 RSs received 15" rims only. The tires for the IROC-Z were 245 series and the RS was 215 series. The IROC-Z also had black painted headlight pockets, while the RS was body colored.

The interior was similar, but the steering wheel was different for the RS. There were obvious performance differences that you already mentioned weren't what you were looking for.

The last thing, most IROC-Zs in 1990 had the stripes and door decals, but they were available without. The RS had no stripes.

This information relates to 1991, not 1990

yeah i know i was trying to say that the 89 had the regular tail lights not the grid in a post above..and when i read that about the 91 it stated that they recieved the grid tail lights on the rs which i believe was the first year.

i had forgot to put the year it was quoted from in the previous post

Well if you waded though all the Posts with there facts and fiction, the real difference between a RS and IROC-Z Camaro is get ready . PRICE.... thats the Big and only difference. For example: 1990 RS base is $10,995 without options and the 1990
IROC-Z base is $14,555 without options. So the BIG difference is MONEY and what you got for it when the car was brand spanking new.

Buying used is the same.
