Likely to purchase a 84 Trans Am
As the title states, I'm most likely going to purchase a 1984 Trans Am. I did some research on the car, and I'm still looking for a little more. Here what I've got:
Supposobly its a 1 out of 1500 15th Aniversery Edition. But the numbers shown by this site and FAQ's are about 800 "rare" cars made this year. It does have Recaro seats, t tops, rear deck spoiler, and TRANS AM on the doors in blue. Which, to me points to the possibly rare model. I still have to look at the sway bar for the 25mm, and not the 23, and check for the engine code on VIN.
Its in the newspaper, but heres a very similar pic. If anyone can help me out in identifying this car for what it might be, any input is appreciated! Thanks!

Hey if you can send me the vin I have over 100 15ths on record along with some of the cars history I can see if it fits in the series of vins I have or if I have the car on file. If you ANY help with it let me know I have restored a few 15ths over the past 8yrs ..

15ths are awesome.
That pic you linked looks goofy though, the back tire appears to rub the fender well.

Yeah, it looks to me, that it was whacked in the a$$, and bent the quarter panel down, thus closing the gap at the rear of the rear wheelwell.
Check it closely, and don't pay too much, cause it's going to need some serious work, to make it right again.
Buyer Beware!!

Wow, I hadn't even noticed that. You guys have sharp eyes. I'll be going to check it out tomorrow afternoon. Also, If I were to replace that 1/4 panel, what years would I be looking for?

I knoew more about Nissan body and motor parts at the moment, but if it is damaged badly, and I get a good price, I am whole heartedly going to make this car the pride and joy it once was. THe big question though, does any quarter panel from a 3rd gen t/a, camaro match up? (minus a t top being slightly taller than a flat roof.)

Only a quarter panel for a firebird will work,(check the taillight cut-out for the camaro), you'll see.
Any year, 82-92, should work.
The T-top has nothing to do with the quarter panel, as it stops just short of the roof panel, when originally built.
I hope it turns out to be better in person, than in the picture!
Good luck with it!

Great! I was really hoping that the most of the body was interchangeable. I forgot all about the tails.
Is there a portion of FAQ or Sticky on this site about colors, body, and mechanical parts that were produced and are interchangeable on the various years of t/a and camaro? I'd hate to have you guys answer something when theres a read all I can get a hold of...That and no results are turning up in the search button. I'm using poor phrasing I guess... Thanks all!

I'd have to say, that the only things that are interchangable between the firebird and camaro are: the roof/t-top, doors, glass, hatch, driveline, exhaust and suspention. Some interior pieces also might swap, between the two. And of course, the wheels and tires.

So not very many motor accessories are interchangeable? Such as p/s, a/c, internals, etc?
Upon visitng my relatives for Christmas I fumbled through the classifides and found what is claimed to be a pristine '84, with one owner and 110,000 miles. This time I won't get lost looking for it!!

THat is awesome, and a great thing for GM to do for production cost. I'm lovin all this information, and most definitely appreciate all of the help.
If that car doesnt work out I know where there is a 5speed in ok shape it will also need some work and there is one on in think in VA for $1500..or there is always mine ha ha but mine will also have a pristine price ha ha ...I also know of one completely restored but it is also going to be high...
