Firebird SE??

Hello all. I'm looking at a 1985 Firbird SE that is for sale in my area and I never knew too much about the SE's. I currently own an '84 Trans Am. Anyways, what I'm confused about is this SE has not only a 305 V8, but also it sports the GTA style tail lights (the checkered kind) and Trans Am/GTA stlye hood (flat hood with air intakes), GTA stlye interlaced gold rims (but they are 15"s),However, the bumpers are that of a typical Firebird/Formula in 85 and later models and it has a regular flat deck style spoiler. I know that 1985 was a year of transition for these cars, and that's why I'm not 100% sure......

Can someone tell me, is this how the SE came stock in that year? Were these kind of upgrades for the Firebird SE avialable at the time? The guy selling it, who's the original owner by the way, says that everything is stock on it. Other than that, the car is mint and very well looked after and I'm interested in buying it. But I've never seen an "SE" like this one.....

Thanks.

Nilton

All the features you describe point to a bona-fide S/E.

The 85 S/E shared the same new tail lights as the T/A of the same year. Reagular Firebirds had the cary over from 84 style.

The hood is a S/E exclusive though as it does not have the corner vents in the hinge area.

The 305 LG4 was an upgrade to the std LB8 V-6. The rear deck lid spoiler was an upgrade also along with the N90 15" diamond spokes. (14" std on S/E)

S/E standards included color keyed seat belts, roof console, leather appointment group, deck lid release, and luxery trim group just to name a few. These options were available but not standard on the T/A's

Buy it!

Just to add to what Don said:

S/E exlusive parts...notice the taillight center section has PONTIAC lettering in the red reflector strip, this piece was only used on 85/86 S/E's.

Also the hood is unique to 85/86 S/E's. It has the T/A style louvers in front, but no vents on the side/rear of the hood.

It should also have metal/glass GTA style emblems on the sail panels.
