History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!
How many different colors did the bumper and rocker pannel emblems come in.
Also How many different emblems came on the camaros?
I've been looking around and have a pretty good idea already just want to see if anybody can show me anything I havn't seen.
For the dash emblems:
CAMARO (black with grey letters)
CAMARO (silver with white letters)
Z28
Z28 (crossfire injection under)
Z28 (Iroc-Z under)
Z28 (25th anniversary)
For the dash emblems:
CAMARO (black with grey letters)
CAMARO (silver with white letters)
Z28
Z28 (crossfire injection under)
Z28 (Iroc-Z under)
Z28 (25th anniversary)
As far as I know, the rocker emblem that said "CAMARO" was on 1988 Sport Coupes ONLY. '88 Sport Coupes also had a emblem on the bumper that said "CAMARO". '88 was the only year that the sport coupes had ground effects and the "shorty" wing.
I know there were rocker emblems that said Camaro, I think 85-87?
I wouldn't call them rocker emblems because they were on the fenders (no rockers on Sport Coupes until 1988). "CAMARO" was used from 1982 thru 1987.
Not sure about the back bumper.
"CAMARO" was used in 1982 only. "CAMARO (Bowtie)" was used from 1983 thru the beginning of the 1986 model year. It was replaced with "CHEVROLET" thru 1987.
And we can't forget the Berlinetta...... Any guesses guys?
Where's Willie? lol
Lurking, as usual..... You never know when that darn "Willie" will show up!
OK, let me rephrase what I said. When I was talking about the "CAMARO" "rocker" emblem, I should have said "CAMARO emblems on the rocker pannel ground effects".

My 88 rocker panel emblems say IROC-Z in silver/black and my back bumper says IROC-Z in red. But now i made my own clear lighted IROC-Z rocker panel emblems
Here's a picture of some blue rocker emblems. Sometimes people post the topic, "Is this rare?" Most of the time, at least in my experience, is that most parts are not rare until it comes to the badging/emblems. These blue emblems ARE rare, and so are the yellow and gold. For some reason you can buy the silver emblems all day long. And for those who say, "Those colors aren't rare, cause I've got some." How much do you want cause I'll buy em...
over the last couple of months I have seen several color rocker badges on ebay (red/gold/tan and of course silver) but never blue. as a side note.. what is the deal with the different colors for the front bumper emblems? the one between the headlights? what colors go with what?
Because they keep discontinuing things. It's OK though, someday everything will be available for these cars again like the way back Camaros. (most is reproduction though, but I don't think there's a part you cannot get for a 1st Gen/early 2nd Gen Camaro) Alot of stuff keeps coming out for our cars if you pay attention to the catalogs.

Usually the different colors for the rocker panel emblems and rear fascia emblems go with the stripe color on the Z28's and the IROC's. The stripe color usually indicates what color interior the car has. This is especially true on '82-'87 Z28's w/o the IROC option. In 1985 & '86 Chevrolet went crazy with different emblem and stripe colors. There were nine different ones! I did extensive research into this in the mid to late eighties when the cars were still new and nobody repainted them yet, and have pics of every different paint/stripe color combination for the '82-'87 Z28 & IROC. I can chart them if anybody is interested.

sorry for bringing an old post back to life but....
I can say for the Berlinetta (83 model year) theres a berlinetta with the bowtie piece on the rear bumper, and a berlinetta trime piece on the nose near the flag w/ bowtie, with camaro(gold) on the lower frount quarter panels behind the wheels (both sides) and Berlinetta (gold lettering) on the rear panel Ill put pics up as soon as i can, but keep in mind, all but the Camaro and the Berlinetta(the gold ones) are good (hell the rear bumber peice is gone, and the frount one is chipped so bad you can barly make it out)
For those of you who showed interest in the charts of paint/stripe combinations don't worry. I haven't abandoned this task. I started looking into how to format it and it's a little bigger project than I anticipated it to be. So, stay tuned, I'm working on it.

Here is a question for you badge/emblem gurus: Is there a silver/grey version of the Z28/IROC dash emblem out there anywhere? Mine is orange, and so far thats all I've ever seen. Problem is that there is no red or orange anywhere else on my car, and I'd really like to find a silver one to match the rest of the car.

You could always just put a rear z28/iroc or rocker z28/iroc emblem on the dash.
I had an '89 Camaro RS and it had an "RS" emblem on the back bumper and "CAMARO" emblems on either side on the rocker panels. I haven't seen that mentioned here for an '89 model and I never saw another one with that set of emblems.
Hi
IM trying to figure out the correct 1985 Z28 badge. Does anyone know the correct one to purchase?? There are 2 choices burgundy, burgundy, red and/or burgundy, red, orange. Mine are so faded, im not sure which is correct.

Reason: adding pics
If I recall correctly, in 1985-1987, there is only one red emblem option. All other variants of red you see is due to color fade.
Yes, but which of those pictured is more correct? I tried to buy new ones from the dealer nearly 25 years ago, but they were already discontinued then. Finding an original car with mint original emblems is a needle in a hay stack.
Hawks offers both for 85-87.
maroon, dark red, poppy red OR
maroon, poppy red, orange.
My stripes are poppy red and black. I ended up going with maroon, dark red and poppy red.
I wish I knew for sure if there was some colour scheme they followed
