Differences in '89 L98's
What's the difference between the '89 L98 230 hp motor (2.77 gears) and the 240 hp motor (3.27 gears)? Was it just the dual cats for the 240hp motor? Also, were the '90-'92 L98's equipped with single or dual cats?
Thanks,
Larry.
Thanks,

good question. 89 was the 1st yr that dual cat options were available. That has to be the reason why the 3.27 gear l98 with 240hp is more then the 230hp 2.77. Also 91-92 Z28s L98 automatically came with dual cats. Im not sure about the birds tho

Initally For the Firebird line the Formula was to be the only car to get the Dual Cats. Later in the model year run this changed and the Dual cats were standard on the Formula, and appartently optional on the Trans Am and GTA. The dual cats option added an advertised 10HP to the rating.
