Fog light lens replacement?

I thought I was told by a friend that you can't find replacement lenses for stock fog lights.

My friend currently has two fog lights he is willing to give me really cheap, but one has a cracked lens and the other has an extremely dirty lense.

My questions is, is there anywhere u can purchase just a lens replacement kit or anything of that nature?

Thanks
Tony

BTW the fog lights are for a Camaro. I am not sure if there is a difference between firebird or camaro fog lights.

Not sure if there is a difference or not either but for the GTA I was able to just go to Autozone and find light of the exact same size, only difference may be in the way the bracket connected. Can't say for sure on the Camaro or not but I would think replacemnets are also readily available.

The IROC fog lense cannot be replaced. The entire piece is somewhere around $70 from GM.

That sucks!!

So there is no way you can find something that is close to the same that works but just isn't "technically right"?

This sucks bc one of the fog lights I actually do have is basically brand new, but my brother cracked the lens somehow. That sucks if the only way to get a new one is to dish out 70 for one.

Look for "BLAZER" foglights at your local Autozone/CSK/Baxters/Advance/etc. Should be about $20 for a set.

Iansane..... I will check out Autozone about the blazer fog lights. That would be sweet if it works.

§teve.... I don't have the foglights right now, my buddy does. I will get a pic when I can, hopefully I can get one tomorrow.

Thanks to both of you!!!

Well you're lucky; on the 91-92 birds they changed the shape of the foglights and I can't use the ones that come on every single other GM car of the era. Feel lucky.

The Blazer fog light lenses make a suitable replacement for 85-90 Trans Am fog lights.

However, they're not even close to matching the IROC fog lights. Nothing matches them.

So you're saying the only thing i can actually do is buy new fog lights?

Also, I was wondering if you can take apart a fog light and clean it rather well? Same goes for all my lights. They are all a little foggyish and dirty. Is there any easy way to clean the insides of the lenses? And is there anyway to eliminate fog buildup in the lights?

You can take the fog lights apart. You can paint the black housing and trim ring, and you can clean up the glass. You do need to be careful separating the glass from the housing though... they're usually stuck on there pretty good (glued I believe) and can break when you try to separate them.

You can clean up the glass, but if they are stone chipped too badly, you're only going to make them look so good.

Re: Fog light lens replacement?

The dealer.

The 91-92 TAs used a different lens that curves upward to follow the bumper "nostrils".

Email me @ ians@brucetitus.com and I can get you part numbers and availability. I work at a Chev dealership.
