AAron the Daytona is an 83 Trans Am. the lower portion of the car is black while the engine bay and upper portion of the car is white. a big decal that reads DAYTONA is on both rear 1/4 panels. this I believe was the only Firbird that year that had the same ground effects as the 84 Trans Am's did.

Most of the cars came without the decal package.
So, the big Daytona stickers on the rear quarter will probably not be there.
In the decal package, you got front and rear windshield decals, stating "Pontiac" in white, with lines running through them, and the Daytona callouts for the doors, Offical Pace Car, Daytona 500, and the rear quarter Daytona decal callouts.

Hope this helps,

George

Daytona in full decal trim...

Interior

The bottom color is dark charcoal, not black.

With the Daytona package you recieved 1984 T/A style gfx, guages that light up red, Recaro seats, special Daytona 500 floormats, and special two-tone paint. Some of the cars came with the white Aero wheels.

Hey,
That decal on the windsheild looks wrong! It should have black lines running across the letters, and the car should also have a rear window decal, so, having "Pontiac" across both the front and rear glass.
Nice car though!
Oh ya, I said Daytona too by mistake!
Uh, Alex, you didn't answer me about the seats!

I think that car has the cheap Autografics decals. The door and Nascar decals look wrong to me as well...

The seats have been recovered George. I will be keeping them around for now...

I located one of those in a junkyard out here in Wooster, Ohio. The body is in good shape and it still has the motor, but is blown. The car is rather complete but will need some minor body repair. Is it worth buying and salvaging???

I would def grab the seats if possible to. you might want to take a look at the center console and see if it has the padding on the left or drivers side, if so then you should prob try grabbing that to, if its in good shape that is. wheels would def be another good thing to snag up if money permits.

What do you mean by the padding on the driver side. Are you talking about the leg pad thingy?? I already have that on my car

yeah the leg padding. you may have one on your car but that is a pretty hard to find option intact so you could sell it on Ebay and def make some money on that.

As you see in the pics at top. Some 83 Daytona Trans Am's came with a 15X7 White Turbo cast wheel A.K.A "Aero" wheel. These DO take the bowling ball caps. But have a 1" extra lip on the outer edge than normal Turbo cast rims and have "Aero Pontiac" stamped on the outer edge on it.Making the caps flush with the wheel.I always wanted to paint a set of thoe wheels Black with Black bowling ***** and see how they would look like on a "Special black Trans Am".

Hey George

I don't know if it's the same car Alex mentioned but tuesday I saw what might have been a 84 Daytona at PYP. It was pretty picked over but did have the flat panels on the front bumper which made me think it may have been a Daytona.
I thought you might be interested so I popped the data plate, If you want it PM your info and I'll mail it to you.

Jon,

Does it have the code Y82 on it? I took the data plate from the one I saw. Were there any good parts on it?

Thanks!

I'll put the plate in the mail tomorrow.

Alex
It was a t-top car, I didn't see any codes, the interior was gone/trashed, bumper & body parts may be usable but the body parts are pretty common there. The only thing that might be considered special would be that style bumper cover. Could be that was just the Trans Am style, I'm not that familier with all of them.

Hi Jon!
I got the data plate, thanks!
But, 1984 is either a 15th Anniversary, which is white, or a Recaro Edition, which is black.
Do you remember anything else about the car?
By chance, did you get the vin?
Thanks again for the data plate! I put it in with my big pile of data plates.

George

Sorry, can't help any more than the above. The codes were gone and I didn't get the vin either, too much filth and I wasn't THAT interested.
But just for you I'll try to remember to take a notepad from now on!
