1983 Pace Car switch Speedometer

I have an 83 Pace Car with the red backlighting in the dash and speedometer. I just saw the 160 Speedometer for the 82 - 84 Trans Am´s. How can i change it so it will light up red ?

160 Speedometer

So it will match with the rest of the car.
I would be very thankful for help or ideas.

Also do i have to recalibrate the speedometer or can i just plug it in ?

You should be able to just plug the bulb(s) into the back of the speedo housing, same as you have now.

It should be a install and go deal, from what I see from the pic you linked, the gearing inside the speedo is changed so the needle turns half the speed as stock. (taking an 85 mph dial and making it a 170, except they only show to 160)

Chech out the thread I made earlier on this very same subject,
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=320180

I used the very same speedo you have( with the red lighting) and they redo yours without altering the red on the back of the gauge, (which is where you get the different color, not by using red bulbs).

It is then recalibrated and sent back to you, and then you just plug and play

My shipping was only $8.00, so that might make a difference with you, as far as sending yours, but at least you'll know your getting the right one back, as far as the red lighting goes.

Leon.
