The 15s w/ caps are worth that much, but the 14s are pretty much worthless as I understand

Thats "3rdgenparts". He's the one that hypes up all the 1982 stuff as being highly valuable.

The thing I always wonder is does HE really BELIEVE his prices are fair? A few calls to a salvage yard or a search on the net would reveal what things are really going for.

N89 caps can be had from hubcap dealers for about $5-15 a cap. I routinely see 14" rims and sometimes even with the caps still intact at swapmeets for no more than $50 set.

c'mon man...that is the Turbocast KING! He's the KING of all Knight Rideresqe thirdgen stuff...

Anyway, you are right about them not being worth anything. Even HE knows it. As he's always saying to get the "correct" rims for your Knight Rider conversion.

HERE IT IS GUYS THE *ALMOST* IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND 1982-1984 FIREBIRD,S/E TRANS AM 14" TURBO CAST WHEELS AND BOWLING BALL CAPS THESE ARE THE SIZE KITT HAD IN THE SHOW THESE ARE USED AND MIGHT NEED MINOR REFINISHING WORK BUT I GUARANTEE THEM TO BE STRAIGHT.CAME ON THE 82/83/84 TRANS AM AND FIREBIRD S/E**PLEASE NOTE THE WHEELS/CAPS/PARTS ARE IN USED SHAPE.THEY MIGHT HAVE A NICK OR TWO AND SCRATCHES.THEY ARE SOLD AS-IS NO REFUNDS

Hmmm...last time I checked "KITT" had the 15" turbo cast wheels....

"Almost" impossible...I see more 14" rims on Ebay than 15" rims. People can't sell them. That should tell you how much they are worth and why they aren't selling.

Salvage yards have been dried up for a long time and the few that have anything are charging allot for stuff. One yard wanted $50 for a 15" cap

If I were to find a 70 Chevelle SS at a yard for $100 does that make it worth $100 on the market .....NO

All I do is find these parts and sell for a profit.I'm just a simple middle man,When I first started doing this in 2001,I had no intentions to make prices on 82-84 Firebird stuff skyrocket. It just happened

I spend MY TIME to find these parts.80% of my customers are not in the U.S but in different countries so its almost impossible for them to get any third gen stuff (with the exception of eBay).I do my best to help them with their kitt project and there more than happy to buy from me due to the fact that most eBay sellers don't ship internationally.

That was an oversight,Since I use the same auction format over and over again. Some things I just overlook.

1982ta is right as we all know kitt had 15" N89 rims cause he was a 1982 Trans Am WS6/7 car.

I think there was a company that did make replicas at one time...I saw some rims on Ebay and the seller said they were made by a different company. They looked pretty similar to the stock Turbocast rims. Don't know if they still make them or if the company is even around anymore.

No company ever replicated the wheel,They were all made in the 80's for Gm.Company's are Modern Wheel,Western Wheel,Kelsey-Hayes.

FYI I have long ago investigated the cost of reproducing them and at the moment it's still to high to become profitable.

Only knight rider fans pay top dollar,But once they have what they want who else is going to buy them. ????

Turbo Cast rims are useless without bowling ball caps and don't let me get started on those.

Don, what you posted are 83 or 84 N24's. Available in 14" or 15". 84's had machined fin-faces. 83's were painted.

They are NOT the same as N89's.

N24's use the "normal" 6 sided center cap (like a GTA wheel).

83 center caps had PONTIAC script insert, while 84 had a gold bird insert.

yes, profit. That is what it all boils down to. You make a good point: Only Knight Rider fans pay top dollar. I'd agree with that since I wouldn't pay more than $50 a rim. Usually people who have them want to get rid of them because they look pretty lame I guess. Restoring is a different matter. I'd say alot of the people who buy them don't even complete a true kitt conversion, but that is a whole other story.

If they sell, more power to you for making a HUGE profit (I'm sure), and we are not in any place to tell you what to sell them for, but as far as I can see, it's gouging! Hell, I'll go get the 2 or 3 sets from the local yards and sell them on ebay for $200! lol
