Firehawk on ebay,why so cheap??

This 92 Hawk has a little over 2 days left and is only at $13,000.What gives? Is it because the T ram was switched out in 93?Heres the link:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1992-...QQcmdZViewItem Also,i have noticed that 3rd gen birds prices are a good bit lower than their camaro counterparts.Any good reason why?Its amazing you can buy a GTA pretty cheap but an IROC in the same shape almost always goes for more.Maybe its just me who finds the birds way better looking than the camaros

I do not know how verifiable this particular car is, however, if I had started school two years sooner, I would be considering a 2nd thirdgen! I have noticed that people do not seem to be as interested in firebirds either, although I do get a lot of compliments. However, some people (mostly girls) say "nice iroc"!

That would be my guess. If you take a rare car and start replacing the rare parts, I would think the value goes down.

THat is number 26, I have looked at the car personally at SLP...

One of the issues with that car is it was a 305 Formula converted by SLP after the fact, it is one of the original 25 made. VIN 1G2FS23F5NL211558 shows this as it was originally a 305 car, unlike all of the red cars that had the B4U RPO code, I do not believe this car has the Firehawk RPO however.

It had the Aluminum Hood, a Factory CD player, and alot of other goodies. Unfortunately the T-ram was missing when I looked at it in 1998 or 1999. Matter of fact I know from a very distinct memory that the car har TPI on it when I looked at it, Now it has another intake on it. I SPECULATE that SLP may have bought back the car with intent of removing the T-ram after the fire in NJ where the T-ram was made. When I talked to Mark at SLP I asked him about buying a T-ram and if I could still get one and apparently at the time SLP had one that Ed Hambrurger had in his posession and was not willing to part with it.

When I looked at it # 26, I was told the car was originally in HI and the car had been purchased back by SLP for a museum that never happened, as they also had #1 sitting next to it, a 95 Ultra Z and a tube framed race car in the same building. I could have bought the Ultra Z or the Race car for 15K at that time but they were not willing to part with the Firehawks for that price...

The car will probably end around $20,000 as it did last time, although rumor is the seller wants about $30K for it. The pix you see there are at least a year and a half old. Personally I would avoid the car like the plague as the future is rather uncertain as soem of the stuff above, 13K for iti is a fair price. 20K to 25K is about the going rate for a good 3rd gen Hawk today with less than 20K on the Odometer.

Last I knew
#1 was for sale last year (2004) at the T/A nats never talked to the guy, the car is actually looking kind of rough on the edges, not sure why but it does not look as pristine as you would think.
#2 is up for sale now (was asking $24K I think), not sure if he sold it or not, but everyone that owns it either got a divorce after purchase or is getting married after purchase and at that point it changes hands.

Hope that helps.

Wouldn't it really be worth it if it were one of the two Rodeck aluminum engine cars that were made even if it didn't have the T-ram?

THat is true the engine alone is probably worth $10K to $15K It DOES have the Aluminum engine.

So with that in mind:
92 Formula, 25K - est $5000
Engine & 6 speed - $15,000
Dana rear axel or equivelant - 2K

I am at 22K right now.

Don't forget about the 2k for the wheels, and the dual/dual exhaust, the 13" brembos, suspension mods as well, I would say $25k for it.

John i thought the #1 car was destroyed long ago by GM. the #2 was Jim Mattisons car to begin with if im correct.
i too seen the #26 & #24 in bowling green at the 2001 35th B day bash.
the #24 was Bruce Hawkins and i think they sold that car.

#0 is still owned by Ed Hamburger, if my research is correct.
#1 still exists, I know this for sure.
#2 was up for sale about a month ago by Brandon Wing.
#24 is Bruce Hawkins, and he still has it regardless of any rumor unless he has done so within the past couple of weeks, and I did not hear him consider such a thing last time we talked.
#26 is (was) up for sale on e-bay.

#98 I think was wrecked.

Before you say huh? its not an RPO Firehawk, rathere a Formula converted to race service. Matter of fact the 2 cars that have I am aware of are Race car #6 and race car #98. RC#6 has been up for sale several times it usually sells for around $15K to $18K. Unfortunately it does NOT have a title, because there is no VIN. I was offered this car back in 1999 for 18K, and it came with an extra set of wheels

Other than that I am unaware of any of the Firehawks that have been wrecked or crushed.

Although there were I believe pre-production cars that had to be tested to meet the crash standards, because they changed the rear axel they had to do a backwards barrier crash for sure, not sure if they did other tests.

Then don't look at the HPP issue with the article about it, you might need to get new pants..

I really love the third gen look of the Formula, but with today's cars', the Firehawk might get out run a few times a day in today's world. Buy a stock Formula and for a few grand you could kill a Firehawk, but then again I am not bashing, but they are over priced back in '91 and today. Consumers are not into 25k plus for a GM car as to why the Camaro is dead and the GTO was a bust. Stop buying Jap cars and dumb suv's that have getty up power except for those stupid loud exhaust and the regular blue handicap sign on the rear view mirror. Andy

I don't think a stock 4th gen Formula would beat the Firehawk that was linked above

IIRC the 91 & 92 Firehawk was a 12.8 ~ 13.2 second 1/4 mile car, thats impressive for todays standards.

The neat thing was is Ed Hamburger drove each and every car to verify it was up to snuff before shipping.

and I would give you a few grand to get my car that fast any day

Tony,
Here is what I was thinking:
WORLD - 427 SBC - 530+ HP...

that way it looks all stock and I could pass it off as a 305

Call me stupid but the vin is an F, it says 5.0, doesn't have the T-Ram.. sounds like a regular firebird with a HSR on it.

Firehawks did not get special VINs, only the RPO code. From the factory it did come w/ a 5.0 and a 5 speed, then all that was removed.

This Firehawk is very well documented and is a real Firehawk.

Yes it is a REAL Firehawk, it is part of the original 25, it is also the last Firehawk made that was a Formula and the LAST 92 firehawk that was a hard top. The vert was the Last 92 Hawk and the only Vert and the only Trans Am etc. It is also one of the 3 that got the 383 engine and apparently it also has the Brembo Brake package from the Ferrari F-40.

The problem that one might have in the future is the RPO B4U is non-existant on the car, Because of such low sales SLP started takeing customers cars or cars from dealerships and converted some of those as well. Thereinlies the problem, in 20 years this car will be on the Barrett Jackson Auction Block and SOME people will be skeptical BECAUSE it does not have the B4U code. What does that mean to us? only the future will tell... I am not sure on this BUT it may be that all of the cars that are NOT red may be non-B4U cars in 92.

okfoz, I think you are correct about the non-red Formy cars not having the B4U, that including the red Trans Am Vert.

You and John and one or two others here know enough. I think Brandon knows his stuff, I've spoken with him a couple times on the phone before he got his 'Hawk home and he knows a decent amount. No one knows it all...

BTW though Doug, all of the RPO real Firehawks were L98/4L60 not LB9/T5, that's what all the non coded 'Hawks are...

Ah, darn it! It was an assumption that I made, I was thinking SLP would get 5 speed instead of autos. My bad.

Just because it is on E-bay doesn't mean it will sell. It seems that 3-4 Firehawks are always well know to be "For Sale for the Right Price", when the right price isn't that crazy. If only the Vert TA was a realistic price

Correct, it is nice, but with the economy soooo bad and the price of newer cars, it will be around. The engine bay paint looks a little dull, is that a bad picture? Andy

Most of our cars came from the factory with crappy under the hood paint... My paint was so thin from the FACTORY that you could see the primer. Matter of fact I wiped off the yellow paint so... Its means it has not been re-painted is all...

Maybe somebody on this can help me on what can I spray on to really clean the painted areas good. I use to wax my white car under the hood, but after it was not used anymore I haven' done it in ages. My red one is clean around the engine areas, but whoever had the car sprayed some dark stuff around some areas where it wont hose off and it is in the wheel wells around the black plastic areas. That is the only thing hurting car, need to buy new parts from Hawks site.
If I could get some help on why my pics wont attach on here as it says file too big everytime I try to attach some nice pics so you guys can see how good my 2 birds are, especially my red one.
