Did any 85 TA's come with a 5.7 TPI?

I heard about a car for sale that is supposed to be an 85 TA with four disc brakes and the motor is a tpi(not sure if it's a 305 or 350 though)automatic. He wants $1000 for it, but I would have to get tires and rims for it though. I haven't seen it, so I was just wondering if it could possibly be a 350.

Correct me if I am wrong, but factory 350's w/ TPI did not show up until 86, and all I know about them then is that they came in 50 IROCs, that is it. I don't know about the Pontiac side of that, but I am sure there was a limited number of them made there too. The engine didn't see large scale production until 87.

Car: Turbo Buick
Engine: 3.8 V6
Vortex is right.. no 350s in 85

The car is somewhat desireable however because it is the only 305 TPI auto combination with a decent cam and usually decent rear gears. In 86 all auto TPI cars got the horrid peanut cam and remained that way until atleast 89, 90-92s are rumored to have a better cam but its not been verified.

Anyways, it will be a pretty quick car once you tune it up and all and I dont think for 1000 you could go wrong unless its been totally beaten to death. Should be good for low low 15s to high 14s if its running well.

Car: 85 IROC-Z / 88 GTA
Engine: 403 LSx (Pending) / 355 Tuned Port
Transmission: T56 Magnum (Pending) / T5
Axle/Gears: 3.42 / ?
In good running condition and the proper gears, it should be a mid-low 15 second car. Pablo is right, it's the most powerful 305 automatic you could get in thirdgens. My 305 IROC went like hell for a stock 305.

I went and looked at it today and I think I'll have to pass on it. The body has no dents, but the paint job is scratched, faded and has big paint chips missing which is now rust. The guy who had it put an after market nose and a cracked up GTA spoiler on it. It needs a paint job bad, but it is an 85 so that was expected. I didn't get to talk to the guy today so I didn't get to drive it, but if they let the body get that bad imagine the motor . I will just keep my eyes open for a better one. Thanks for the input guys.
