yes they did actually, and i could be wrong on this one but im pretty sure posi is a pretty much standard option on all fbodies, if your only spinning one tire theres a good chance that the clutches in your rear end are shot (they do go bad after time, that ammount of time depending on how you drive and how well its been maintained)

i'm sure it was an option. i've got a friend with an 87 firebird, he said that he blew up his engines by doing burnouts, the other thing he says is that it used to leave to tiretracks, but i can't get him to do a burnout for me to test it out. But he claims that he has two wheels turnin' now as far as options. my car got nearly every T/A option, except power windows and locks, and in 85 ground fx weren't available on non T/A's. But i've got the overhead compartment, premium sound, and that beautiful v6. so i think you could have one, it'd proabaly be rare though.

Graeme's,
Move this over to the History/Restoration board. Willie should be able to help you out.
But I am virtually positive no V6 ever had posi. Example: 4 wheel disc brakes required the limited slip. The limited slip required a 305. This is an indirect quote from the Camaro White Book. Plus, limited slip was never put on more than 29,000 Camaros in 1 year, normally around 15-20,000. I can virtually guarantee with that little production, these were 8's, not 6's.
Check your option code sheet in the glovebox. If you have RPO G80, then you have limited slip. If it ain't there, you don't

I'd say it was possible. But highly unlikely.Maybe on a special order from factory.
I have a limited slip and I burn both wheels. Not all the time though......just when it rains*joke*
All joking aside I can spin both believe it or not!

I had to reply to this..
my 84 Firebird S/E (which I no longer have) had the LL1 High-Output V6 (125HP) and the WS6 package with posi, 4-wheel disc, everything you'd find on a WS6 Trans Am or Z28. Both options are on the SPID sheet. The rear axle is a 3.73 posi. The posi still worked too. You could feel it and hear it sliding the tires going around curves on a gravel road or a dusty parking lot, and especially in reverse. From the first day I had that car I knew it was a rarity! Maybe I can buy it back one of these days...... Here's the SPID sheet breakdown; http://ohok.com/82recaro/84.txt
Car is pictured in my signature below on the right side. more pix http://ohok.com/82recaro/misc/84SE
Any idea how rare this combo is? I'm guessing no more than about 200 were made. Thanks
