hey man no question is dumb. just be glad you asked before you line up against one and make a smart comment about it saying TTA on the fender seconds before he blows the doors off your car. They came with 3.8 turbo buicks the same thing as a GN only more powerful. they were made in 89 only and are white with the gold rims only not positive on the production number but a couple of guys on the board have them and they can fill you in on the details.TINFY

Like TINFY said, no question here is a dumb one.....

The 1989 Turbo Trans Ams (TTAs) were produced to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the T/A. Only 1,555 of the cars were built and sold to the public; today they are rare cars prized by their owners.

Under the hood, one word applies: BADASS..... The Buick-derived 3.8L V6 Turbo engine received special heads from Pontiac, and some other improvements to raise the advertised horsepower rating to 250..... only 15 hp above the GTA's 5.7L V8 for that year. Yeah, right..... The engine reports that I read showed a dynoed figure of 310 bhp.....

Still, I've yet to see a stock 1989 GTA run anything better than 1.5 seconds off the 13.40 seconds that the TTAs ran the 1/4-mile in..... The engine reports that I read showed a dynoed figure of 310 bhp.....

Very fine cars, indeed..... Someday I hope to have one.

You will have a very easy time finding one with t-tops. It is the hardtops that are hard to find! You haven't seen one of those for sale, have you? I could very well be interested in it if you have......always looking to add to the collection!

there is two of them running around Dallas. I think one is a someone's daily driver. Pretty sweet but I wouldn't take one on in a thirdgen without major mods under the hood. They'll hand most stock vehicles their license plate in no time.

A far cry from the 1981 Turbo TA of the second gen. That thing was a piece.........

The GN heads fit just fine, the problem is that you can't get the A/C mounted in the same location as the GN in an F-body so they switched to FWD heads in order to relocate the A/C.

Hard to tell without seeing it. Parts alone are worth a ton of money.

Probably 6K-8K would be fair, thing that sucks is that if you need to redo the motor your lookin at $2500 bucks min to do it right and finding parts sucks. At that point you may as well spend 10-12K and buy a 70-80K mile car that doesnt need work.

Its a crap shoot...

$8K seems awfully high with that many miles on it despite the engine rebuild.
