I went to the RPO Decoder on this site, and it says it can't find 2 codes...

Z31 and 1SZ

Also, the car was built in Van Nuys Ca.

It's a '92 Z28 convertible...was that the only plant building camaros in '92?

I wish I had my copy of RPO codes interpretations from GM of Canada. I too have Z31 and I believe it had to do with dealer prepartion in Canada. But I cannot positively say because those documents are all in storage.

The 1SZ is an option package for interior/exterior trim. No further explanation available for what this option group encompass, but it groups all your interior/exterior into one package. If you know your other interior/exterior codes, then you have what they grouped together.

 

All the "Z3-" RPOs in my 82-92 GM RPO book are Canadian codes except for the Z34 Lumina option.....

I've got Z31.. I found it a while back (can't remember where)..

It stands for Advanced price sheet..

Your 1SZ code is the option package your car came with.. There is no real way to decode this, since option packages changed year by year and model by model. (They could even change during a model year).

Basically, the option package is a group of unrelated things ordered when the car was purchased..

The packages consisted of unrelated things like the type of radio, carpet, trim, mirrors and even fold down rear seats..

So.. hypothetically, (Using x and y)

A 1Sx package could be an AM/FM radio, basic trim, manual antenna and single folding rear seat.

A 1Sy package could be an AM/FM Casette radio, fancy trim, power antenna and split folding rear seat..

I made up the above packages, but they are close to how they came in real life... They are still offered today and the 1Sx codes show up in 2000/2001 GM models.
